  • Thanks for the info. The only pick-up location west of Toronto is at Etobicoke, with pick-up at 10 AM & departing from Casino Rama at 6 PM. Rama has the best rake structure for $2/5 NL of all the casinos & clubs I know, so I'll try to go there on Sunday, February 10 or 17. Does the Rama poker room have any other busy or fishy afternoons besides Friday to Sunday?
  • the bus trip was fine; they showed a movie on the way up and offer free water; they do give you a fixed time for your return trip or you can go on stand-by for a different time; even with the snow, it only took about 1.5 hours to get up there from Woodbridge. Its not really worth it considering the travel time. Three hour return trip, still had to wait an hour to get a table on a storm day and about three hours of play. I definitely prefer my local club even if the rake is a little higher. The travel time really is a big factor for me but I wanted to give it a try.

If you have lots of time to kill and no transport, its a good deal.

They did ask for a $5 tip for the driver on the way back so it still cost $5 indirectly.

I've heard them ask for a $5 tip for the driver, yet no 1 ever does (I've been on Taipan tons). People always tip $1 or $2 (or none). I hate all their stopovers though, really adds time to the trip.
  • It's not listed in Tai Pan Tours' website, but there is a more western pick-up location. I phoned 416-646-8838 and was told that it is near the Tim Horton's at Square One shopping mall in Mississauga. Has anybody here ever taken or seen a Casino Rama bus from Square One? Pick-up time is 9:45 AM daily with Casino Rama departure at 5:30 PM.

My poker goal this month is to try out all the $2/5+ NL venues I know, so if you know of any clubs that has a regular 2/5 or higher table, please PM me.
  • better to take the bus from Woodbridge location (400/Major Mackenzie) as no stops from this point until the casino and first drop off point (assuming you live north of the city).
  • On the Major Mac location. No stops but are their any seats left?
Old lazy people need to know this

I went on a snow day and there were plenty of seats (70%+ empty). If you check with the bus company, they probably have a policy that there is no standing. The bus is pretty big so I don't see this many people going up to Rama during the week. It might be a little busier coming back.
  • Thanks for the information, thought that might be the case, better to check. Why would it have more people on the return trip, don't you go and return on the same bus? Where will I leave my knitting? Can you guess I've never been on one of these before? Sounds like fun though, Think I'll try to round up a couple of others and give it a go

    Thanks again

  • you can change your return time and go on standby but the return bus should have around the same number of people.
