I am not a fan of older Hyundai, however in the last couple of years they have started to make the same quality rankings of other Asian imports in initial quality.
I have had some friends with the accent have the bills for brakes and tranny problems have been quite expensive. (could be isolated incidents but really pricey).

However, its crash safety rating is quite poor aparantly, since it weighs so little or something? Not too sure.. just caught it on CBC one a.m.

transmissions - they will grenade with annoying frequency
wiring issues - you will experience strange outages and "shorts" that come
go like an undisciplined teenager on weekends
Make sure you do your homework on the car, moreso if it's got the 5 pointed star on the hood.
Goddammit, I was really hoping this one was it- I'm sick of car shopping!
