  • Might as well stay home and play online.

At least with a real dealer you have time between hands to chat. Not to mention chips and cards.
  • ya thats weird how they dident get atleast 1 real table instead of 25 electronic ones i have a hard time that they will do well people would much rather play live thats the whole point of going to a casino if they wanna play online they can stay at home o go to the casino and play with there wirless connection lol. but i would like to see A HUGE electronic tourny with like 25 tables that would be cool, not a cash game how boring would that be. I PLAYED that electronic poker once in turningstone it took all day to fill 10 spots.

  • I have $500, Pat, and I would like to buy Mr. hollywoods17 a period to try and solve his puzzle.

Make sure you save the $75 for the Dalmation though :D
  • I know... we'Re stupid in Quebec about poker for some goddamn unknown reason...

I mean it took like 15 years for it be just just LEGAL.

Oh well... maybe I'll go and try em out in Montreal see how boring it is lol
  • The girlfriend and I went to Lac Leamy last night. Arrived about 5:30, got seated at 7. (poor sob's that arrived any later, as the wait was over 5 hours).

Got a free hat and t-shirt - woohoo! Free finger foods and red bull all night long - all served by some of the hottest waitresses I have ever seen in a casino (except Borgata) - much nicer than those at...say...anywhere in Ontario. Nice cool atmosphere too, with a big bar right in the room - joie de vivre baby!

I was very sceptical about the electronic tables, but I have to admit that it was okay. 10% rake to max 5$. The french is a pita but you adapt. (e.g. "suit" means "call" in french). Phil Laak was supposed to show up but perhaps Jennifer was a little hard on him last night.

Of course, the play was all over the map: some true ATMs, some "tricky" slowplay artists (actually easy to read: call means strong), no lags at my table though.

It was a good experience and I will be back many times. The pent up demand in this area will keep it full for a long time. Can't wait until it slows down a bit. Then the gamblers, who won't wait for 4 hours, will begin to saunter in from the pits & slots.
  • Here's a pic....I'd say they look like they should be on the USS Enterprise, but we've all seen the shitty poker stuff they played with.

    pokerprotables
  • I'll be in Ottawa next week... what games were they spreading? Particularly mid-stakes limit hold'em ($20/$40 and up) and SNG's $200 and up.
  • They had a 20/40 game going. They also started up a 10/20 NL while I was there. They were running some $100+$15 sitngos, but I heard they were bingo fests.

Reason is dealers don't want to take a pay cut to deal poker. It's a union issue.
  • This might be a good place to play.

New casinos... ummm... virgin unfished waters...

    Road trip anyone?

I'm headed to Montreal End of Feb/March if you want to drive ;)
  • Going to the 3rd Annual FullTilt Poker Montreal Open around March 30 - April 2 would be an option.
    Road trip anyone?
  • I've just registered my partner and myself in the Full Tilt Event for April 1. Thanks for the info BlondeFish.

Prior to that we will be playing in the Blue Water Classic (NLH) at the Point Edward Casino in Sarnia - March 25-30. This is a great event and for more information call: 1-888-394-6244
  • What turns me off with the Full Tilt Event is that if you make the finals, you have to fly to vegas to play. A lot of money must be taken out of the prize pool to pay for this expense.

Does it mean you have to be 21 to play since finals is being played in LV?
  • My experience at the new poker room in Lac Leamy is now posted at my blog. It's really freakin' long.
  • Thanks for the interesting blog report, as usual. What was the rake taken out for the 2/5, $115 SNG & other games? With $1,265 total buy-ins in the 11-person bingo SNG, was $115 or 9% raked out of the prize pool?

Unless the house take is significantly lower than a regular B&M poker room, it seems to be the worst of both worlds. Players who enjoy playing online have no reason to go all the way to a casino computer to effectively single-table online. Players who enjoy live poker over online like me would rather go to a regular cardroom. Even if all the clubs closed down & there was no traditional table left, then I would rather switch to playing online from home than go to a casino computer.

Thanks for reading it. In case it wasn't already obvious, I guess I like to write... I'm actually a pretty quiet guy but in those entries I do tend to go on and on and on.

The rake was 10% with a $5 max. I'm not 100% certain of that, but I'm pretty damn sure.

The SNG was 10 players, not 11. And, I believe $100 went to the prizepool, $15 to the house.

LOL @ "the worst of both worlds". You make some valid points... I'd probably rather play online as well, but there are still a lot of players who don't trust online poker, and do not play.

    Love, your cyber stalker.

Is it me, or is that a little disturbing? lol

Nice summary of lac leamy all aces.

I have been about 5 times now, and am loving it. There are some real noobs there, but also some cranky old veterans.

I stacked a guy at 2/4 LHE, yes 2/4 LIMIT. The river gave him the nut straight and gave me the nut flush. He did not see the flush and we reraised one another until he was all in...$200 pot in 2/4 LHE...love it!

Another pot I took down was when the river gave me a straight flush and the villain the nut flush. He only stopped betting because one of those cranky old pricks, who liked to impress us with his calling out potential hands, told the villain that the 9h would give someone the straight flush.

SNAP! LOSE IT! I politely but firmly asked him not to talk about a hand while it was in progress. He shut up after that.

But I left up about $400 for the evening, so all was good.

Anyone else have to deal with these kind of people who like to talk about hands while they are in progress? The same ones that are always asking you what you had, etc?
