Poker Academy in London, Ont - Jan. 19

Came across this site. Looks kind of interesting. I have no affiliation with this site, just thought I would share it. I like the JJ ad, looks like someone has spent some time and money developing this site and the upcoming poker academy. If anyone is planning on attending, please post your comments afterwards.

  • Spent all this money, but wheres the advertising, first I've ever heard of it. Looks like a huge overlay/opportunity though if it in fact does happen.

Not sure how they can hold a training camp but don't list the coaches though.
  • They're just an affilate for Everest Poker.

Not too sure how legit (or even legal) it is.
Certainly a grey area anyways, but maybe they found a loophole.

The tournament against your fellow camp participants is played from your home ONLINE the day following the live poker camp. You must register a Everest Poker player account through Just Jacks to compete in the private tournament. Full directions will be supplied to you in your Event Registration Confirmation email

The maximum capacity for the camp is 290 people.

Attendance of the poker camp is required to be eligible to play in the online tournament for the $10,000 WSOP Main Event Seat. However, attendance is taken during registration and you are permitted to leave during one of the breaks if your schedule requires.
  • these guys look even more poorly organized than that guy that posts on here sometimes...
  • Spoke with the "owner" today.

    Coles Notes:

    Affilate for Everest Poker.
This is part of his MBA Thesis.
    This is the 1st workshop.
He is the instructor (so these are just his ideas)
He plays online poker 40-60 hrs/week.
You can go for free by signing up with Everest via the link. You have to join Everest anyways for the seat they are giving away as that is where the tourney will be played.
    Currently 94 have signed up.

general opinion is that unless you are a beginner, you won't get much out of this.
I wonder if he thesis is "You can sell poker instruction to anyone"

    :D
  • I'd signup if not for this

Attendance of the poker camp is required to be eligible to play in the online tournament for the $10,000 WSOP Main Event Seat.
  • too bad i have already signed up at everst poker.. that makes me completely inelegibe for the free ticket as well as the WSOP tourny.

i doubt i'd do it anyway because he doesn't ahve any big names.. and i dont know who he is. but.. this is a pretty pointless offer if you have already played at everest.

    Nope James Hayes.
  • Has anybody heard any reviews of the poker camps? I don't see any link to Everest Poker.
