OMG... It's finally here.... 5/10!!!

After playing at the casino (2/5) for about 6 months now, I have sufficiently increased my bankroll to allow me to sit 5/10!!!!!!

I feel like I'm graduating.. <tear>

So starting questions:

What should I buy in for (keep in mind I buy in $80 at 2/5)? I was thinking $250

Anything I need to know in terms of differences of play?

I'm assuming (and that makes me an ass) that small blind is 5 big is 10, that correct?

I recall rake is still max $5 a pot, is that correct?

Any other advice you would choose to give me?

  • Small blind is 2 and big blind is 5. 5/10 refers to amount equal to the small bet/big bet. Preflop/on the flop $5 is the bet, turn/river bet is $10.

I usually buy in for $250 at 5/10, but I would have another 2 buyins, if not more in my pocket just in case. $250 is essentially 2 hands capped each street so if a few hands don't go your way, the money in your pocket comes out.
  • It don't find much difference in the play. Small difference is if you have position on a lag, depending on the table, you may be able to 3 bet to isolate a bit more. Raising in position when folded to you may come into play more but you will still get called down heads up by bottom pr, A high or even K high. Be prepared for a showdown.

Blinds are 2.5 and 5 - yay you get to use snappers!
Small bet is $5 and big bet is $10.

I usually buy in for $200 and keep at least another $200 in my pocket, adding on when I drop to $100. Only get red from the cage.

When you win a pot, if you have no $1 chips for tips just throw a red out and the dealer will change it for you.

    Rake is the same.

    After playing at the casino...

    Which casino are you playing?

Are you playing Limit or No Limit?

Which casino(s) use $2.50 pink chips on their poker tables?

Brandtford answers two out of three of my questions at best?

    NVMND..it answers all three.

    $2.50 chips are horrible chips.

So I am assuming at Fallsview, you rip off your customers and only pay $7 on a $5 BJ or do you have the even more horrible $.50 coins instead?
  • Pretty sure the $2.50 chips are no good only in the poker room at Fallsview. Which means blinds of $2 and $5 and not $2.50 and $5.

Ummm... is this a poker thread?

Using $2.50 chips on a poker table is horrible.
Allowing people to bet odd amounts of $2.50 chips on any game is horrible (almost all casinos do this).

You really seem to hate Fallsview. I think that is funny; such emotion against a building/business. LOL

Why do you think using 2.50 chips is horrible?
I sometimes like to bet 2.50 chips ... it makes the pot look bigger if I want to elicit a call from a loose donk...

Your lack of knowledge of poker is astounding. It's LIMIT, you can only bet in increments set by the HOUSE. Such as 5/10. The $2.50 chip is for the BLIND.

Also you didn't answer my question. Does Fallsview use $2.50 chips in BJ or not?
