Deep Stack Cash Game

Curious to hear other experiences with deep stack cash poker... Recently played at table were 7 stacks (of 10) were over 250BB deep... with the fixed buy-ins most casinos have, this seems to be a rare occurance. This was 2/5 NL and I had a couple of "firsts"

First time I ever made it "$200 to go" with pocket 10's (from the BB, after a raise to $25 and 2 callers)

First time I ever called $80 pre-flop with 78s (last to act... 5 callers ahead of me... did not work out!!)

First time I ever pushed $1700 and got a caller (holding the nuts... sceond nuts called)

Now that is a nice call! Only thing is, its 910s that is the nuts! You can't go wrong with that hand. btw, you should be re-raising with 78s :)

    I thought the same thing!

    Mickey where was this game?
  • My homegames allllways end up deep stacked relative to the blinds, .25/.50 with uncapped buy-ins. usually ends up being around 1500 on the table with 8 or less players left, and reloads often come in at 200 bucks a pop once the night wears on. We've actually had an almost 900 dollar pot before.

At the Akwesasne Poker Room, which is now located down the road from Casino in NY State, across from Cornwall Ont.
  • I've never personally played a deep cash game, but I imagine I would be calling raises more often with A,x suited, connectors and low/medium pocket pairs, just because of the implied odds.
  • played in a 1/2 game last Friday and after about three hours there was over $4k on the table. One guy went through over $2k and kept re-buying. The game got bumped to $2/$5 at one point, although the max buy-in did not change from $200 which was really stupid. Unfortunately the cards were not hitting for me all night. I usually play pretty tight early trying to build some chips to play with and then I will play a lot of suited connectors to try and hit the flush or straight.
