Have a reg. schedule etc.
read more of the HH's, and humbly contribute a few of my donktastic adventures.
Build my bankroll to play regularly 10/20 at Brantford (and win)
Play 1/2 of the Bristol Events
Win a Bristol (or 2 or 3 or ...)
Cash in a Poker Stars Sunday Millions Event
Quit over valuing / over playing Big Slick
i too also plan (and hope to cash) to play in both the 500 k and sunday million sometime soon.
i already disregard ace king as it is a totally crap hand, dont get excited when you get it, about the only time is if your heads up in the final 2 otherwise the hand is a waste of time. (specially on donkeystars, oh i mean jokerstars, oh wait its pokerstars.)
Win another live tourney
Improve the bankroll enough for the $1/$2 NLHE game
Put some money into an on-line account
Play a Ching Hill event or two, just to test myself.
The past 6 months has been mostly live tournaments and cash games for me, this year I'm hoping to fine tune my game and become a more effective poker player. I bought theory and practice of NL Holdem, and 2 of Dan Harrington's books so hopefully I can break a mental sweat with those.
As well in 2008, I've made a goal for my MTT of being ITM atleast 25% of my tournaments to seriously build a significant bankroll. ( My MTT buyins range from $2-30)
I have a realistic view of me playing the Sunday $$$. Need to get real lucky with the field size of about 2000.
I'd only satellite into it though.
- Restart my online bankroll
- Continue, finish Harrington's books (currently almost done vol. 2) as well as a bunch of others that I have on my booskhelf and want to pick up later in the year
- If I have time, start learning Omaha and Stud (incl. Razz)
Want to be able to have a legitimiate bankroll to sustain 1/2 NL or 10/20 FL. Whether that's by succesfully re-building my online bankroll from next-to-nothing, or playing more live and doing well there, or by using disposable income from my full-time job, which I hope to have soon after I graduate...in my last semester and change of university and have to start looking for a job soon!
For book reading here's my plan.
No Limit:
Buy:
Professional No Limit Hold`em.
And Re-read.

Limit:
Buy,
Winning in Tough Hold'em Games.
Re-read
Hold'em Poker For Advanced Players.
Play of the hands
Weighting the odds
Small Stakes Holdem.
1. Go to Vegas on the May 2-4 weekend.
2. Continue to play well in MTT's both online and live. (I have cashed in 4 of my last 6 tournaments)
3. Win a MTT at Point Edward Casino. (Weekly Saturday Tournament)
4. Cash in on Poker Stars $100,000 and then the $1M.
5. Play 10/20 at Brantford on a regular basis. (Something that I failed to do in '07)
Play more poker period. Once summer comes I should be able to do that as sports betting slows down.
- continue to improve my play at 1/2 NL and keep better track of my results
- play in more high skill level and patience factor tournaments (including casino based tournaments) and avoid the garbage tournaments;
- finally beat the Rama 1/2 sharks (don't have a good history at Rama so far) and make it to the money in Bradford (left over from 2007 goals)
- play and cash in a CPT event.
I'm a brand new member and hope to learn alot from everyone here and what it has to offer. I'm not yet old enough for casinos in Canada. I'm only 18. Though I have a few goals for this year.
- Move up from .5/1 to 5/10 by the end of the year. I use a 30 buy-in roll.
- I will do this by playing 1000 hands a day online
- Become more confident with my PLO game
- Read a few books
Not sure about this one realistically; you probably need a $5k+ bankroll for 5/10 and to make this from a $30 buy-in, would be exceptional. Also, are you playing .5/$1 with a starting roll of $30 each time. You might want to read some cash game books before continuing with this strategy. Always buy in for the maximum in a cash game and when you chips dip below say 80-90% of the max, rebuy to get back to the maximum. That way if you double up you can make say $100 instead of $30. If you can only afford $30 at a time, might be better to play at lower stakes (probably $0.10/$0.20) so you can buy in for the max.
I believe he meant 30 buyins at his current level.
- Cuss less at tables (online)
- Try to get in the sunday million at least once for the experience
- Get back in the black as far as poker investment goes
$3k? that would be more reasonable
Improve my Cash Play
Play in a WPT Main Event
- Continue going to Brantford Casino once a week and start picking up a second night for home games/tourneys
- Make the trip to Seneca and spend a weekend playing NL
- Move up in limits from 2/5 to 5/10 Limit (SO CLOSE I CAN TASTE IT)
- Continue reading and learning more about the theory and strategy of poker, and improve play
- Try playing on an electronic table
- Make it to Vegas and play at one of the big rooms.
Here we are in the 8th month of 2008.
[x]Cash in one of The WSOP Events that I am playing
[x]Improve my Cash Play (up money is cash play, and I am happy the way I have been playing)
[ ]Play in a WPT Main Event
2 out of 3 is not to bad. Hopefully I can win a seat into The NAPC at Fallsview
Does anyone else have any updates
Play more at my local [x]
Win another live tourney [x]
Improve the bankroll for $1/$2 NLHE [ ]
Put some money on-line [x]
Play a Ching Hill event [1st, and a 2nd]
Four out of five, so I cannot complain. Thanks, Steve, I was thinking of this thread a couple weeks back, after I won at the Hill.
[ ] Spend less time online, especially poker forums.
Horrible failure. Despite other priorities, I spent more time in poker forums than actually playing poker. With the limited time available for poker, I should spend most of it playing, dealing or reading my unopened poker books instead of posting or reading off-topic threads. I need to go on forum tilt for the first time ever so I will swear to never post again, or I need to find a way to put compuease on tilt for the first time ever and give me a lifetime ban from accessing the forum. I hereby pass the strategy posting torch to pkrfce9, ReefAquarium, etc.
[ ] Win as much money in tournaments as in 2007.
Having played in only 1/7 as many tournaments so far as I played last year, this will be very difficult to accomplish. I won satellites or bought in for 11 Skill Level 6 tournaments at Casino Brantford last year, but it has a grand total of ZERO tournaments this year. For the remainder of the year, I plan to play in the tournaments at Fallsview Casino (including WPT satellites), Point Edward, Great Blue Heron, Caesars Windsor and/or APPT Manila.
[X] Play at the WSOP.
Last summer, I set upon a goal of playing at the 2008 WSOP. With the best-value event being the Casino Employees Event (CEE), I set out to qualify for a gaming license and learned how to properly deal poker, blackjack and roulette. My highlight so far this year is winning a CEE in Las Vegas. I then opted to skip the WSOP CEE, but did win a seat to play in the WSOP through a live freeroll bar tournament. Going forward, I plan to play again at the 2009 WSOP, hopefully winning a seat to the Main Event.
[X] Get jobs as a dealer.
Having enjoyed dealing part-time for a couple of casinos, I would love to work at Brantford or Niagara Falls and represent at future Casino Employees Events. I plan to defend my CEE championship next summer and play in the WSOP and any other CEE available.
[X] Win at 2/5+ NL.
After successfully moving up from 1/2 to 2/5, I am now considering trying to catch up to a couple of other forumers and move up to 5/5 (and occasionally 5/10).
So far 2008 has been the year I've switched from playing limit to playing NL. This is motivated by the fact that donkeys watch TV and decide to play NL not limit.
1.
Live, I've moved from mainly playing 1/2NL to mainly playing 2/5NL
Anyone have any insight on moving from 2/5NL to 5/10NL???? I'm guessing the skill level for 5/10 is much greater.
Online I play at much much lower stakes. I freerolled a bankroll and I started playing .01/.02NL and I've been grinding through the ranks now I play .25/.50NL
2.
I need to post and reply to more hand histories. This is something that I wish everyone here would do more of.
3.
I've been mainly going to Fallsview rather than Seneca. There isn't much selection of games above 1/2 at Seneca.
Although the soft 1/2 Games, free beer and massage girls at Seneca are nice.
I've been focusing on cash games. I've played one tournament so far this year.
This may be an error since I see totally awful players playing tournaments who would not touch cash games......
