Cure for the doom switch

Wondering what to do when things are going bad -- getting rivered mutiple times -- getting all your money in good pre-flop as a 4.5 to 1 or 10 to 1 and still losing.

I have it figured out. Just go play on Stars. It will make ANY online cold streak seem like a walk in the park. And, if you can squeeze out a small win over a few days, the patience you'll have developed and mental strength will allow you to kill any game.

Cheers

  • i feel your pain, same thing is happening to me and i was going to ask you what to do :) .

dont play on stars as thats where i am playing right now it will only make things worse as it has the most rigged (so called dealing system) there is, its 99 percent donkeyland on there.
  • I don't play ring games on Stars period. Every 6 weeks or so I forget and sit down and get reminded not to play ring games on Stars.

Do not play ring games on Stars.
Do not play ring games on Stars.
Do not play ring games on Stars.
  • well said moose.:)

case in point in a tourny i just played on there, 1 ugly donkee called 2 big bets with a pair of fives, guess what came on the turn, yup another 2 outer on rigged stars a 5. had top pair with top kicker on flop which was rainbow(rare for stars to have a random flop) and they still called a good size bet with small pair.

also last night a rookie whos hardly played was trying to tell me how to play a sit n go. lmao rookies are so entertaining, this person could not understand why i kept pushing all in when i was the short stack this was after he limped in utg and folded to my all in, tried to explain to him with the limping action and my stack size i almost doubled up, but he could not figure it out. told him to go learn real poker and come back and talk to me.;)

You taught that fish a lesson!
  • I hear Poker Stars is really tough to make money at. Don't know anything about how they "randomize" their cards. What I do know is that a lot of flush boards hit on Party Poker and a lot of straight boards hit on Gnuf where I am now. I'm actually doing well now, can handle the swings. I'm willing to pay for information. I remember that guy who called my preflop raise with A-3(o), called me down to get lucky on the river. Eventually I nail them. Still when you hit top two pair on the flop and you lose to a river card a few times it's enough to make you go on tilt.
  • sounds like you have a case of the results oriented thinking. Welcome to the club! If you get a bad beat at the river, in the long run you will still be ahead. btw, one of the reasons I don't play on Stars anymore. I had a post on the very subject a while back.

  • Can't say it's rigged but I do believe there are patterns in the random. I also think that something gets added to the hand randomizer to discourage or sniff out cheats.

As I've said before alot of straight boards come up in Gnuf. I mean A LOT. Then there was like 2 days in a row where almost every garbage hand I folded hit the nuts by the flop or turn. That almost drove me crazy.

It's psychological. People like to find patterns in random events.

I've seen that in live casino games too.
    (see note above)

  • I still think live poker is rigged....playing at my home game (1/2NL)

Pick up Q7 on BB, 4 people limit with 2 bucks...flop 77A...checked around...turn comes K...i check, 1 bets the pot, 2 people call, I check raise to 40, original better folds, only 1 person left....river 9...I bet 20, he shoves all in...I call..99 he makes a boat....

I AM TELLING YOU LIVE POKER IS RIGGED.....
  • online and live poker are both rigged against bad players... and mike matusow
  • i think bad beat is a good sign, where alot of bad players,
on fulltilt, there is alot of lucky dumb punk. they eventally lose, but it just suck that they suckout on you, then lose to another guy who play well......
i have a few of suckout day on FTP, where nothing holdup. and it's really pissing me off.
ring game are better, tourny on ftp.......get me on tilt very quickerly
today, i watch player 1st hand, UTG push $50 on 50NL with 64. he get call by KK and KK. and AA
    flop 664......lol LMAO
chatbox on that table is very busy for the next 5 minute.
it fun to see bad player suckout, until he suckout on you.
  • Dig this. Gnuf has an astronomical number of straight boards. Typical flop is 9-Q-J and it's almost guaranteed a 10 will come on the turn. Now, ever since the new year, the site has turned into suck-out heaven. It has appeared to me that almost every river card makes someone the winning hand. I went from a steady winning streak in December 2007 to a near crash n burn in Jan 2008.
