I'm going to Seneca/Niagara Tomorrow.

Anyone else up to taking American's money?
Post or PM me if you want to meet up/car pool/rent a cheap place...

  • I want to have more US dollars for my upcoming Vegas trip, so I will be carpooling to Seneca today (Thursday). I hope they will have enough interest to run the WSOP $40 satellite.

  • Our run for the border is on for this afternoon!
  • Good luck guys, hoping to get a little 2/5 Brantford action in this evening, so in case I can't I'll be thinking of you :)
  • Trip report:

    - After picking up ReefAquarium at Burlington GO station, he gives different directions than me to the driver until I realize that we are headed towards Casino Brantford instead of Seneca Casino!
    - US Customs stops our run for the border & orders us to park the car to the side for further questioning!
    - When we check in at the poker room, a new 2/5 NL table is opened up so there is little waiting as usual.

    - When my friend & I were seated at the new 2/5 table, I assumed that ReefAquarium continued to play at his 1/2 table. After several orbits, my friend asked me if the Unabomber lookalike with sunglasses hiding on the other side of the dealer was ReefAquarium and I had not realized that he must have been sitting there from the beginning. No wonder the table was so tough! Not wanting to grind it out all night in a table where there are not enough donkey plays being made, I asked for a table change.

    - There was yet another pretty masseuse who I hadn't seen before, & ReefAquarium got a power massage.
    - One of the players was informed that a seat at the $1K max. table was available for him, but he took a look at the table and didn't want to play against much bigger stacks. That is exactly what I want so I asked for his seat. I donked off some chips :fish: to ReefAquarium on my last hand at our table.

    - After I moved to what I thought was a raked 2/5 table with $10 bring-in, I was told that the players had agreed to change the table to 5/10 with a session fee. :( The fee was supposed to be $5 per 1/2 hour or $100/hour for a 10-player table, which is a lot better than Fallsview's $140/hour fee for 5/10. However, the dealer informed me of a complicated procedure where I think 1 of the big stacks would pay the session fee for the table and he would get part or all of it back if there were $200+ pots. If someone knows of this practice, please explain it to me as I didn't understand it. I don't think I ever paid for any of the session fees.

    - Many of the players had several thousand dollars in chips, and decided to move to the new $10/25 NL table. When there were only 4 players left in the 5/10 table, the pit boss let us play rake-free for awhile! After a couple of dealer changes, a session fee of $5/player was charged for the hour.

    - I proposed to the players about changing from 5/10 with session fee to a raked 2/5 with $10 bring-in. Since only raked games are eligible for the ~$179,000 bad beat jackpot and not the timed 5/10, the jackpot-obsessed players agreed.

    - When the driver wanted to head back home, I cashed out up. Seneca's $1K max. table is now my favourite cash game. ReefAquarium dominated the 1/2 table that he had moved to. We were given out a draw entry for every hour played.

    - Having forgotten my Canadian passport, I was able to cross the border with only a drivers' license.

    - I think ReefAquarium has a Casino Brantford homing signal embedded in him, as his directions again differed from mine on how to get back to the Burlington station. He directed us to the Hamilton/Brantford exit towards Casino Brantford, but the driver said, "F*ck limit" ;) and we managed to find a way back to the station. Discussing poker strategies with ReefAquarium is highly +EV, but following his directions is -EV!

    - We all agreed to go to a high Skill Level tournament on Friday night. Next Seneca road trip: this Saturday before the 2 PM super satellite for the Winter Challenge.
  • how about some of the interesting hands you played in? I be interested in hearing about which hands you made money on and which you lost more so than about the rake structure.
  • Excellent trip report, wish I had just thought about you guys instead of actually going last night to the 2/5 land o' donkeys.

After about 5 hours end result.. -80 :)

Wow, you are the first person that ever posted here that has actually lost money in a sitting. Now I don't know what to believe.
  • Don't ever ask me for directions to anywhere. I'll just get you lost.

I get picked up by Blondfish and his friend and we head out to Seneca. We phone ahead and get stopped at the border but they let us go after 1 min of questioning.

We get to Seneca and we all sit in a new 2/5 NL game. I was going to sit in a 1/2 NL game but I figured I want to get Blondfish's analysis of my play.

Table is: Blondfish in seat 1, Blondfish's friend in seat 2, Aggressive guy with cigar (AGWC) in seat 3, Bad Aggressive in seat 4 (BA), Tight old nit in seat 5, Totally clueless lady (TCL) in seat 6, Elvis in seat 7, Weak loose in seat 8, Me in seat 9, Guy who claims to be pro in seat 10.

Everyone was complaining about how tight the table is. Even though most of the other players were playing way too loose to be optimal.

Elvis was catching cards and was ahead about $500. He was very aggressive but a card catching aggressive is a fearsome player. I was just waiting for a hand to trap him with.

I spend $30 to get a massage from a pretty blond girl.

I had one hand against Blondfish. I had 33 and limped in and flopped a set on a super dry board. Blondfish bets into me and I raise and he folds. Maybe I should have strung him along with my set...

I'm not feeling that good, I feel kinda chilled and I decide to move to a 1/2 NL 100max buyin table.

I go the 1/2 table and notice this is a perfect table. Nobody raises more than $12 preflop and about 6 people limp in...

I stack someone who calls his stack off with 2nd pair vs my tptk.
I stack someone else with 2 small pair.
I flop a set of jacks and stack another player.
I fold for about 4 orbits, 7 players limp in I have AKs in the button, I bet $17, everyone calls. Flop come no ace/no king/no spades..... someone pushes all in and I fold.

I have kk bet $17 and it gets folded around to me..

I get caught bluffing betting $17 preflop with 87s... "8 high I yell" mainly for image

2 orbits later, I have black TT in the big blind, 7 players limp... I raise to $30... 2 players call $30 after limping in for $2 What the heck is going on here????, (one all in for $29)...

Flop comes Ad Kd Qd ... I check... Player goes all in for $59.

Huh, Here we have a dry side pot and a protected hand (you can't win by bluffing since one player is all in)

What would you do here?? with 2 black tens... I can win with a J but not the J of diamonds and I can win with a ten but not the ten of diamonds.

I fold since I have to call $59 into a $130 pot, I figure I don't have the odds to call..

They both show 99... the all in has 9 of diamonds. Amazing... simply amazing..

    I end up $362.

I've lost $300 at the Brantford 2/5 limit in one sitting.

I'm more worried about the player who raises with 87s than AK, AA, KK, etc. Bluffing, I think not... raise those suited connectors!
