Way to find other Pokerforumers at a table?

I realized last night as I sat in my 2/5 chair (flops hated me, played 5 hours for a profit of +2 :) ) that I could be sitting with 2/3 forumers and not have a clue.

Wonder if we could come up with a way to recognize each other at the table so we could say hi, or whatever.

Perhaps a hand signal, or some sort of whistle or phrase?

Or perhaps I'm still tired from my session last night and am not thinking clearly. I'm counting on you guys to help me decide which is which..

  • HAHA, I remember a couple of years ago that there was a discussion about the creation of forum business type cards to tip others off to the forum, and to interact with each other. It got quite heated I recall as people basically debated the merits of offering fishy players access to information which might make them better, thus reducing profitabiity.

At one point I think I actually got BBC to call me a F#%king Moron.

    Perfect.

I think the end result was that this...

The First Rule of Pokerforum.ca is......you don't talk about Pokerforum.ca
  • Sup bro....
  • The CPF community is orders of magnitue smaller than something like 2p2. I doubt you'd ever find yourself at a table with another person..

And most people from here would respond to sup bro anyway.

I think he's more referring to Ontario casinos (Brantford, Fallsview, Niagara, and to a certain extent Seneca) where the popular of CPF members dense compared to rest of the country. It is probably likely that there might be 2-3 forumers at Brantford at the same time.
  • On two plus two there are two signs.

    1. Sup bro?

    2. Doth the brown trout sleep in thy closet?
    Countersign, "Aye she does!"
  • What is the real purpose anyway? Just to make a friend or for implicit collusion (i.e. avoid each other)?

Anyone on here would identify the stronger players at the table anyway, this would help make that obvious an orbit and a half earlier ...

    Great question.

Many of the forumers on here know each other (and are on friendly terms) because of events from the past. I haven't attended any of these events and therefore know noone. I was just thinking in terms of saying hey and putting a face to the online handle, I think they call it 'relationship building'. :)

The reason i suggested it in the first place (besides the fact my mind was at 80% ZZZ and 20% caffeine), was because there are so many of us who frequent the Southern Ontario Casinos.

Dunno if it's a good or a bad idea it just was in my head and the caffeine took over on me :)
  • After an amazing suckout that left me felted, I rebuy, get dealt a fairly decent hand and raise, getting a few "tilt raise" comments. I drop the line, "Yup... serious trunk monkey tilt raise." Young guy at the other end of the table actually snorted his drink out his nose. Turned out he was from Gatineau and reads the forum... This goes back a year or two though... Anyone else remember the trunk monkey posts?

According to google it goes back to 2004. I didn't know they had the internet back then.

Origanally, a commercial creation.... I believe ScottyZ popularized the phrase as a "play" on the standard excuse when you make a bad poker play... "the monkey mind" made me call... so references to the trunk monkey became popular in post for a while here on the forum...

I belive someone started a where's ScottyZ thread some time ago, where Scotty actually responded he'd been taken hostage by the trunk monkey... however no arrests have been made to this date... and a few old forum(ers?) are under the belief that he made the entire episode up during a drug-induced trunk-monkey haze... seriously... why else would anyone move to Guelph?

Well... enough reminiscing... time for my medication... and back to the rockin' chair.
  • I was expressing how one player at the table was putting me on 'life tilt', youngish guy next to me says "So what forums do you read". It's like a sub-secret language that the initiated 'get'
  • Many members prefer to remain anonymous and many are too scared to post and just lurk. The best way to get to know some of the members is to go to any of the member-organized events, e.g., Royal Cup, trip to Seneca or Las Vegas, or home game in K-W, Mississauga, Brampton, etc. While flame wars happen on the forum, everybody in the events turn into easy-going, fun-loving poker buddies!

  • Just look for the player NOT wearing any pants. That'll be one of us for sure.
  • And if you see a player not wearing any pants, while standing on his chair doing a balancing act in a drunken stupour, just say "Hi Mark"

    :)
  • Well sup bro might get you erronously identified as a 2+2er... maybe say "Poke Her For Him" :P
  • Try this - "Are you from K-W"? That will get you about 75% of the forum...
