  • TY sir.

Time to start making travel plans.
  • Which other forumers are planning to be in Las Vegas during the Main Event? If I want to take my family on July 1-8, is the best way to book a flight through Buffalo and book a room with the hotel directly? Are there any new kid-friendly hotels that are better to stay during the WSOP than Circus Circus or Excalibur? While I am playing in the few Skill Level 6 tournaments and :fish:cash games in Las Vegas, I want my spouse and 6-year old "blondefish" to enjoy the hotel amenities such as swimming pool and kid's attractions.

Let's say I win a satellite on July 2 to the Main Event or make it to the second day of the WSOP Event #55, is it a simple matter to delay my flight for up to July 16 while my family flies back as scheduled on July 8?

  • If you don't mind me asking, which casino are you working at BlondeFish?

As far as travel plans, I'm guessing you're better off having your ticket as an open ticket, while giving your family a closed ticket. I'm no travel expert so maybe Watts or someone can chime in and help you out.

Ideally I'll be there for 3-4 tournaments starting June 19th until the 22nd...and hopefully can win a satellite for the ME but I will have to wait and see when Stars star their satellites.
  • NYNY is pretty kid friendly.

Last time I just bought a one-way for myself. Although you get grilled by the U.S. customs guy "Why only one way, you don't know when you're coming back?"

The cheapest way would be to fly through buffalo and hotel seperately. I just use Expedia and fly out of yyz myself for convinience.

I'm probably 90% sure I'll be down there some time during the wsop.
  • I will be down with a couple people around either June 4 to 11 or 12 to 19th ish. I usually book out of TO and wait for westjet sales to do so. Any of those weeks right now is around $700 which is cheap for flight and hotel IMO.
  • Check out the platinum right behind bally's (middle of the strip so about the same distance to the action as if you were at the Luxor or MGM)

They have suites with kitchenettes, it is a condo/hotel with conceirge, indoor outdoor pool and a couple of resturants. No casino, no smoking in the building.

For Christmas I was able to get a 1200sq ft Penthouse, with Strip view for $1300US for an 8day 7 night stay.

Great for kids as ours goes to sleep at 8ish and you can still use the rest of the suite.
  • Tyson are you going over this Christmas? Mir and I going Dec 27 to Jan 1 maybe we can hook up for a bevy
  • ty also. can make travel plans now 2, the boss already gave me permission to attend anyway:) :) , also waiting for satellites to start, problem is i hate turbos which satellites are all i find.
  • Is anyone FOR SURE playing in the main event yet?
  • Yah I will be going 22-30

That would be great! Where are you going to be playing?/staying?
  • I will obv be playing everything including prelims.
  • Choron wrote: »

    obviously........
  • If I'm in a financial position to go, it would be to play these two events (my favourite games):

    June 24 #43 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better (3 day event) $1,500

    June 25 #45 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) (3 day event) $2,500
  • Does anybody know of a Vegas hotel where one of the beds is in a separate room so you won't disturb the person's sleep? I don't really need a kitchenette but would be willing to pay more for one separate bedroom.

So far, it looks like forumers westside8, pokerdro, actyper, Choron, phillivey and I are planning to go to Las Vegas during WSOP time. Somebody who actually made a profit by winning in Vegas tournaments and cash games recently wants to go back to Vegas in early 2008, and it's hard for me to say no to an +EV vacation. Are there any big tournaments or events going on in Las Vegas in January or February?

  • I believe at least some of us are planning to go again somewhere between mid Jan and end of Feb. Just waiting to see when we can get best pricing. As last time I will be playing as many $100-200. tourneys as I can fit it. Cashed in 4 of the first six I played last time including some Omaha.
  • Hopefully the Rio (I believe it was the Rio) that hosted a "mini-WSOP" where the buy-ins were in the hundreds instead. I wouldn't mind playing a few of those along with 2-3 of the prelims I plan to play. I'm sure Watts will be there as well.
  • I think your talking about Binions
  • Please keep me posted in case I don't see you on Friday nights. Which tournaments do you plan to play? I think the best tournament is the Venetian $150, so I plan to play there at noon everyday, then look for cash games after. Is it true that Imperial Palace, Bally's, Paris and Fitzgeralds have the fishiest $1/2 NL cash games?

  • I will probably be playing in Event #49 and #52, same with a friend of mine

    Good call..
  • If anyone cares, Southwest is having a sale for seats flying out of Buffalo. $200~ for return non-stop.

Thanks very much for the quick tip Wes, I was just about to book via Expedia when I saw your post. I have now booked via Southwest direct non-stop to Vegas on Jan 11 returning non-stop on the 15th. $208. return all taxes included. Appreciate it...
  • You're welcome Jeff. Glad someone else was able to take adv of it other than myself.
  • The winner of a WSOP league wanted to sell his prize package at a discount, so it got me thinking about my WSOP plans.

June 29: Arrive in Las Vegas.
June 30, noon: WSOP Event #52.
Play in a couple of special tournaments at Harrah's.
Consider playing in Main Event satellites up to July 5, e.g., $330, $550 and/or $1060 Mega satellites.
    July 3-6: 2+2 get-together.
July 5, 4 PM: Binion's Second Annual Poker Classic.
July 7-8, noon: WSOP Event #55, best-value WSOP bracelet at $500!
July 9, noon: hopefully make it to Day 2B of Main Event and cancel return flight.

    Other tournaments going on:
    - Play on any free days at Caesars Palace Mega Stack Series, up to July 9, noon, $225+.
    - The Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget up to July 6, noon, $225+.
    - Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza II up to July 16, noon, $330+.
    - WPT Bellagio Cup IV, July 1-17, noon, $1590+.

Who else from the forum is planning to be in Las Vegas from June 29 or during the Main Event?
  • Here is part of the blind schedule for the Employees' Event. Nice to even Harrah's can make a mistake (at least I hope it is a mistake!!)...
    wsop.bmp
  • I will be playing
    in Event #49 and #52

Flying home July 3rd, unless I win a satelite into the main event.
  • I am playing event #52 and I hope to make it down in time to play event #49 as well.
  • Making plans to head down June 13-16...probably won't play any wsop events though. Just going down for fun. Looks like it's going to be about $500 for the 3 nights + flight, staying at the Hilton or Golden Nugget.
