Couple of Hands For Comments

So I played at a friend's tourney last night ($25 buy in plus booze for a bounty). Top 5 get paid, 10k starting stack, blinds are 20 minute levels and go...
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400
500-1000
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000 etc.

I'll tell you up front that they call me the "nun's C$@t" so you know my table image(although I try to exploit that as much as possible, of course.)

So the following hands came up and I would like some comments/criticisms with explanations of your thinking please:

blinds at 1k-2k, 9 players remain, UTG I raise to 6 k of my 28k stack with AcKd, folded around to button(has been on a heater and has the big stack at the final table) who calls, blinds fold.
flop:95Q with 2 spades
I make a c-bet of about 8k he thinks and then calls
turn is a 4s I check, he checks behind
river another spade I check, he checks behind
showdown me AKo, him 77 (no spades)
I was contemplating bluffing when the 4th spade fell since I'd seen that this week on the WSOP 2007 on TSN when the guy bluffs with air on a 4 heart board and gets called by the middle pair of 8s (without a heart)
Anybody play this differently, and if so why?

Next one, blinds are at 1500-3000,we're down to 5 players (all get paid), I've been crippled and my M is around 3.5 I hated to let it get so low, but almost every pot was being raised massively and with one or more callers before me, and me on a bad run of cards I didn't think moving in was proper at this point (so my first question is should I have just moved in and hoped to double or triple up on a lucky flop?) Finally I get the SB and it's folded around to me (which was very odd at this stage...). I pushed without even looking and BB (who was the guy I lost the big hand earlier to) insta calls. We flip over 10-5o for me and K-9o for him, king high was good and I get my money back plus I had knocked 2 people out so I was ahead in booze. That was an instant push right?

Thanks in advance for responses.

You might want to look. Not because you're not pushing (you are), but because you don't want BB to necessarily know your range is any 2 (although he should know this based on your stack size). Given your micro stack he's PROBABLY calling with any 2 anyways, but this just makes it an easier decision by pushing blind.

T5o is a profitable jam if you have 11.9 Big blinds or less.
  • Thanks for the feedback. Scoob, I guess I never thought about that aspect of looking at my cards and then pushing. I'll never make that mistake again (I hope)!
