Pokrgod's a Donk

Ok, so I was at Niagara playing 1/2 the other night (Sunday) and I had a first! I actually mucked a winning hand on a shove! I shoved the last $20 I had in front of me and had 2 callers with 10 10. on the flop of 7 9 5 rainbow, the button bet the other caller out but didn't show his cards. we both missed the board and he turned over KJ which from where i was sitting looked like pocket kings and i tossed my cards to the muck! How stupid was that???? Just thought i'd share. worst mistake ever! :js :jd

    Speak for yourself.
  • hope it never does 13cards, it's a sick sick feeling. :js :jd
  • While I was mentioning Seneca Casino and session fee/rake during a cash game this week, a player mentioned that the Niagara casinos have just switched from session fee to rake for 2/5. Can anybody confirm or deny? I plan to carpool again to Seneca on Thursday night for the big draw and Sunday morning for the big tournament.

  • Haven't played 2/5 there in a while Blondefish. They rarely have it at Niagara. They generally only have it on weekends during busy times and I have a hard time going to play on weekends. Wish they played 2/5 during the week.

Thursday? What time are you heading down?

I think I will be going as well and playing the 2/5NL
  • I don't get why people always wanna muck their hand without knowing for sure they lost. Just table your hand & be sure. Sometimes people are embarassed by what they pushed with & muck without realizing they just rivered.

I've seen a guy push w/ AJ high, then rivering a J (& thus the best hand). After getting his all-in on the turn called, he shows his buddy & throws it in the muck. His buddy yells at him that he rivered the best hand.

I've seen another guy push w/ mid-pr, & river 2 pr. Again, mucks his hand only to try to get his hand out of the muck when he realizes he rivered.
  • I generally table my hand in that situation. What made me muck it is beyond me. As I said, that's pretty much why i knew it was time to head home instead of rebuy. I was pretty tired and obviously not on my game.

Speaking of mucking hands, it almost happened to me in my first 2/5 NL session at Seneca. I raise pre-flop to $25 with
    :kh :kd
I get three callers. Flop is
    :jc :8h :3h
LAG bets $40. This is the same player who had earlier called my raise with only J-5 and flopped two pair. This time, I raise to $140 and he re-raises all-in. My read was that there was a good chance that he got two pair again, but given the pot odds and my estimated odds of winning, I called. He turned over
    :jh :8s for two pair.
Since it's a cash game, I did not turn up my cards yet, but he stated that he wants my cards turned over after the hand. I wanted a 3 on the turn for a higher two pair, but the turn was
    :7h
I was now screaming for a 3, 7 or K, but the river was
    :4h
I was disgusted that the board did not pair and was about to muck my hand, but I remembered that my opponent wanted to see my cards, so I turned them up. I started to count my remaining chips, when I heard the word "flush". I looked at the board and saw that I got two running hearts for the King-high flush! My opponent and I simultaneously screamed,
    "OMG!!!"
He refused to rebuy and left the poker room. If he hadn't demanded that my cards be shown, I may have made the same blunder of mucking the winning hand. Instead, I now had almost U$1,800 and had as many chips as all the other players combined!
  • You wanna hear something similar but will make you feel all warm and tingly inside about your own problems?

I go with fellow boarder "Im on Tilt", to Edmonton to play poker. I'm sitting down in Casino Edmonton to play.

I'm crusing along, Im up 60.00 in about half an hour. Anyways, seeing as though Im Edmonton., there are some rowdy types in there. So as I sit down, some drunk guy starts swearing at the dealer. When the bouncer comes, he puts up his fists to engage in a fight. Meanwhile, I'm in a direct path in front of the bouncer. I have a VERY GOOD chance of getting hit in the face, so I stand up and back away from the table. THe nitwit dealer assumes I am leaving the hand so he takes my cards away. I was just running for my life!

I wasn't too happy, but I think I caught a glimpse of the cards and I got Jack 5 so not too bad.
  • Yeah at least the only threat of me being injured in my hand was kicking my own ass for being stupid LOL.

Who was the player? Sounds like it was Philli with the voice box, or Frankie who hates philli but they play the same cards
  • He was a young guy who I haven't noticed since. Phil is the maniac who I won a couple of hundred dollars off in my very FIRST hand at Seneca. I don't want to post about ATM Frank in a public forum. :-X While there are a couple of colourfull characters such as the above, Seneca poker players are generally the most easy-going and friendliest players I have ever seen.

  • Brantford 5/10.

I have been raising all the way with 78h.
I make a bluff with my busted straight flush draw against a weak player.
There are 14 big bets in the pot.
    He tanks for 2 min.
    Then slowly calls.
I fast roll and shout, "Eight High!"

He mucks... Then goes to get his cards back but the dealer doesn't let him.
  • LOL that's awesome!
