What games do you play?

At our poker nights, we used to do Dealer's choice exclusively. Now we've adapted a HORSEY pattern.

We'll go around the table once posting blinds and playing (H)oldem. Then we'll switch to (O)maha. We continue posting antes through (R)azz, (S)tud, 7card stud hi/lo split (E)ight or better. Then we tack on (Y)our choice at the end to keep it interesting for newbies.

At least it limits the number of times we have to play Baseball.

What format do you typically play?

hork.

  • I've been present for a few games of HORSE in my day (minus the Y) but I really do not enjoy the S factor either.

I stick with 1-2 NL cash games and .50-1 or 1-2 NL online games.
  • We play a lot of Hold 'em and Omaha 8 or better. Some seven card stud, and a few of the dealers choice games that never go out of style- Chicago, Fiery cross, and a game called 3 card, which is different from every other game caled three card I have seen(but similar to some).

One in a while a different game gets trotted out, but really those older dealers choice games have started to fall by the wayside. My only concession to this is I alway deal cathcart as my last deal. It is just a little tradition of mine.

(now I KNOW you are going to say "what is cathcart"?)
  • I play NL Hold Em' tourney style, or cash games Limit Hold Em'.

  • the "cadillac of poker", texas hold'em! After really getting into hold 'em there was no other choice for me and my pokerfriends.
  • forgot to login. I would like it if they did show other types of poker on tv though.
