  • I wished Ontario casinos would have more of these deep stack tournaments. It is a poker version of a marathon, playing for up to 13 hours for two straight days.

There is a CPT $2,100 Skill Level 6 tournament at Great Blue Heron Casino on December 11-12, so it is a better choice with no 30% tax withholding and a much shorter drive.

Isn't that a 5000 in starting chip tournament? Glad to see GBH is adding some freezeout tournaments next year in the $500 range (Feb. 13/Jun 11/Aug 13). Not a big fan of rebuys/add on tournaments. Thought you would be all over this tournament Buddy. Not try the Foxwood WPT event's this week?
  • It is 10,000 starting chips. Don't be glad yet about the GBH 2008 freezeout tournaments because as I posted in the GBH thread about the planned blind structures for next year, none of the tournaments are worth playing and I would rather play elsewhere.

It is -EV for most Canadians to spend a lot of money travelling to play in the US, then have to pay the extra 30% rake whenever you are lucky enough to make it to the money. If Casino Brantford will be the only Ontario casino to have decent tournaments in 2008, then I may be forced to play for the first time at Seneca or the high-end clubs that are probably under investigation by the OPP.

-30% makes tournament poker worse than pit games like roulette for pretty much everyone except the top... oh 2% or so?? How would you calculate this?
