Bristol Street Classic XXXV - RESULTS!!
Let's see how my memory and handwriting hold up after a few weeks, shall we?
Bristol Street Classic XXXV drew a field of 30 looking for another spot in the grand final. "DataMa" Al was our first player eliminated just a half hour into the event, and almost three and a half hours later, "Aiki65" Don's elimination in 10th place gave us our final table..
FINAL TABLE (note, while I got chip counts, I forgot to record seating assignments)
"labeach2002" Steve ($11,200)
"Hobbes" Rob ($10,200)
"Oragami" Jonathan ($5,400)
"Redington" Tyson ($27,200)
"beanie42" Trevor ($9,100)
"ItsaMe" Mario ($18,100)
"peteski" Pete ($14,400)
"waltsfriend" Sandy ($17,000)
"sstar" Sean ($8,800)
9th Place: "sstar" Sean - 11:17pm
8th Place: "Oragami" Jonathan - 11:17pm
Our first bust out of the final table was a nice little double elimination. Both getting short stacked, both make a stand with Sean holding A6 and Jonathan holding the legend, K8. Steve, having both players covered held QQ, and the first card on the flop was a Q.
7th Place: "Waltsfriend" Sandy - 11:32pm
All in pre-flop, Sandy found herself well in front, holding AQ to Tyson's AT. The board started nice for Sandy with KK6 appearing. A second 6 appeared on the turn, splitting the pot, but then the poker Gods were feeling unusually cruel and dropped a T on the river to eliminate Sandy from the table.
6th Place: "beanie42" Trevor - 11:33pm (BUBBLE-BOY)
The very next hand, a short-stacked Trevor pushed with K8 and Mario called with Pretso, pocket fives. Though he caught a gut shot straight drawn on the turn, the board blanked out, and Trevor became the Bristol Street XXXV Bubble-Boy. Still, this was Beanie's 4th final table of the 2007 Season and vaulted him up the ranks into XX place.
5th Place: "Hobbes" Ron - 11:48pm ($30)
Steve raised enough to but Ron and all. and he made the call with 33. Sadly, Steve was holding 55 and no three came for Ron, ending his night in the money in 5th place. This was Ron's first Final Table in only his second showing in the 2007 season.
4th Place - "labeach2002" Steve - 12:03am ($60)
Getting short stacked, Steve finally made a stand with A6, only to have Tyson find AJ. The second card on the flop was a 6, but the very next one was a Jack, and the brief celebration ended quickly with Steve going out in 4th place.
3rd Place - "peteski" Pete - 12:43am ($90)
Pete had QQ. Mario had AT. Need I say anymore?
With this elimination we were now Heads-Up...
"ItsaMe" Mario ($120,000)
"Redington" Tyson ($51,900)
An interesting final two players as Tyson, the 2005 Player of the Year, was looking for his first ever Bristol Street win (after countless second place finishes), while Mario was looking for his second win of the 2007 Season to put himself in stone's throw of the 2007 Player of the Year Title. Though enjoying an 2.5-1 chip lead, this lead vanished under the aggressive play of Tyson. And Tyson eventually had Mario all-in and covered with AK v. Mario's 69. A six on the flop gave Mario back the chip lead and a few hands later , Mario had Tyson all-in and covered with 88 v. Tyson's Q6. Though a 6 came on the flop, that was all Tyson was going to get and it was another Bridesmaid finish for "Redington". Mario earned $270 for first and the title of Bristol Street XXXV Champion!! He seat was already reserved with his earlier win, (much to the delight of the high points people). Tyson earned $150 for second and get his second 2nd in his second 2007 tournament.
