Poker on CBC Newsworld (Sunday nov. 4)

Tonight 10 pm EST on CBC Newsworld it looks like they are doing a feature on the WPT event at Fallsview.

Just saw the ad, wanted to make sure I shared :)

    Sorry about my mistake guys, it wasn't this weekends event but rather a prospective on the poker lifestyle. Still a good view though.

    Oh damn I missed this. I heard it was a Canadian documentary on poker and they followed Mercier around alot during the WSOP.

    Did anyone record this and have a torrent available?

    I'd appreciate it alot, I read a blog about this but totally forgot it last night.

    Poker Bay has a French-language (and German as well) version of this doc - I watched it awhile back. It's called "That's Poker".

    It's about the 2006 World Series, with main focus on Mercier, Soulier, Hachem and some stuff on Luca Pagano.

    Mostly very basic stuff about life as a poker player; there isn't any new territory covered for people who are already into poker.

    So I actually watched this on the HDPVR finally and with most CBC productions that go unnoticed, it was quite good. It followed around a few players the likes of Isabelle Mercier, Joe Hachem, Luca Pagano, and Fabrice Soulier.

    It really got into the not-so-fun-and-exciting world of poker where bankroll issues, sponsors, table mistakes, and endless hours of poker took thier toll on one player or another in different ways.

    Luca, an Italian online player who couldn't play live cards to save his pet budgie.

    Fabrice who went thourhg a horrid string of bust-outs only to final table in the last tournament and check out a profit. Hachem who was there like any other past champion just trying to prove he could play.

    And finally Isabelle Mercier who not without skills claimed she was going to win the WSOP main event before any of the 7,000 plus even sat down, and then looked oddly in shock as she was booted out on the first day!!!

    Anyway the somber tone of it all I am sure has a few would-be pros rethinking this life.
