Any WPT Side Game Reports?

Anyone have any reports as to what is being spread and the approx wait list for games this week?

Comments

  • At my WPT table, a couple of players were talking about the long and profitable 50/100 NL game the previous night. During the dinner break, the lowest game available was 5/5 NL, and there was a waiting list of around 80 players. I saw a forumer and a friend, who both decided to go to Seneca instead. I put my name for 5/5.

After my WPT bad beat, I checked how far I had moved up but they could not find my name. I think there were around four satellite tables, 1 50/100, 1 25/50, and the rest were 5/10 or 5/5. I put my name again for 5/5 with a waiting list of around 85 players. There was an opening for 5/10 and I only brough enough cash for 5/5, but rather than waiting, I decided to sit in on 5/10 with $7 session fee. After patiently waiting to win a pot from an ATM :fish:, I checked my status for 5/5 and my name was not on the list again. I put my name for the third time. I gave up on waiting for 5/5 and went back to the WPT room to rail SirWatts and other players I knew.

  • I was there yesterday (Saturday).

I got there at about 1PM and there were about four 5/5 tables going. The rest of the tables were 5/10, 10/20 and 25/50, all NL. There was one table of $1200 WPT sat going as well.

Vanessa Rousso sat in the 25/50 and busted out after playing for about 4 hours. Shortly thereafter, they opened a new 50/100 NL game with Chad Brown as one of the players.

I played about 6 hours of 5/5 and unfortunately finished down about $240.
  • Any idea of the lists for the 5/10 and 10/20?

Are they spreading any mixed games or omaha?

    Thanks

Seneca's 1/2 on Saturday was about a 30 minute wait; they had about 25 tables going with also Omaha and stud. The $1/$2 max buy-in is now $200 which was introduced a couple of weeks ago. btw, I checked out the Omaha table and out of 9 players, at least 6 were seniors. Was Omaha popular at one point? Didn't realize seniors liked Omaha. If you are staying at Niagara, avoid the lines and head across the bridge to Seneca. If you are going to Niagara just to play in the cash games, looks like a very long wait. Maybe during the week they will be a lot shorter.
  • I will probably head down tmr for some side games and rail a bit..will give you a report tomorrow night
  • I was there for a marathon session on Saturday. Started out at 5/10 NL, lost a bundle, then swtiched to 5/5 NL and went on a nice run. The wait was insane, even though I called from the road as I left downtown T.O. A six hour wait for 5/10 NL, and more for 5/5. Luckily being the degenerate that I am, I passed the time drinking and playing craps, as well as spending two hours playing only the pair-plus button in three-card poker. I also checked out the WPT. It was too depressing to stand around and watch, so I immediately went back to the casino floor to get my gamble on.

There was definitely a buzz in the air later that night -- Barry G. was playing 50/100 NL and Johnny Chan sat one table over playing 10/20 NL. Pros all over the place. Saw Juanda walk by after busting out of the WPT. Also saw the mouth walking around the casino floor.

I'm sure the poker room will continue to be lively as more and more people bust out of the WPT. Definitely worth a trip, as long as you don't mind waiting for a seat to open up.

The thing I found startling was how many "young guns" were playing in the big game. Many under 25 types with stacks of brown bills piled in front of them. So crazy how the face of poker has changed...
