Fallsview World Poker Tour Update

  • Quick update....

Starting day - please email me your complete name if you have a preference of starting day.

Credit Cards - there is a 2% surcharge for credit card entries for satellites or Main Event entries. As for cash withdrawls on your credit card, yes the fees are high. This is to discourage smaller amounts and it is not operated by the casino - it is an outside company and simply offered by the casinos as an amenity.

Hat/Shirt - There are two $10,000 events on the WPT that have a lower administration fee than us, Mandalay Bay and Tunica. Two properties are higher for $10K events, Commerce and Bay 101. The rest are the same. At Commerce we received a hat that we essentially paid $100 to have. I would buy into the advertising/exposure argument if people wore them....it is rare. I chose to offer as good of a tournament environment as you'll find instead of a hat.

Scenery - a perk of working in this business and having to work nights.

Satellites - Today is the final day for the $640 satellites, then beginning Saturday we offer the $1,200 satellites 24 hours a day until Noon on the following Friday October 26th. Any smaller denomination vouchers that have not been used can be combined with cash to play the $1,200's.

We just passed 12,000 patrons who have given the satellites a shot, just short of 1,200 satellite tournaments. I believe our staff have done a tremendous job, yes we've made mistakes, and yes we probably did not catch every situation we could have, but that is a lot of tournaments managed by many people. It does create a stressful environment at times for the staff, but I'm very happy with the job they have done to this point.
  • what's the current # registered?
  • Who is starting on Friday. I think I"m going to check out the scene (no i am not playing) on Friday. Let me know.
  • Hey Joe,

I"m heading down on Friday after work for three nights then hopping across to Seneca for 2 more. might play the MTT at Seneca on Fri. at 7 p.m. or the Sat. afternoon one.
  • If anyone is interested in seeing certain "names", I would suggest coming down on Saturday and Sunday for the bulk of them. I can't name names, but there are not many people you see on TV that won't be here, many more than last year.
  • Won't there be a news release like last year naming some of the professionals that are coming? I know when Daniel Negreanu and Gavin Smith are playing. Are any of the WPT boycotters from Full Tilt Poker coming?

Will the "Niagara Casinos Rules of Play for the game of Texas Hold'em Poker" be available to WPT players this year? Is there going to be a WPT players' party again?

might see you at Seneca; I will be there Saturday and Sunday for the tourney. They have a good satellite at 7pm for the $1k event. Top 10% get a seat.
  • Unfortunately I have to be back in Toronto friday night and working all weekend. I was going to check things out on Friday just for Shit's and giggles. If anyone is going to be around I'd certainly not object to catching up with them. If anyone's playing let me know I'll probably rail a bit too.
  • 650 is my guess.

I am going up on Friday, but not playing until Saturday. I will look for you
  • Well done Rob, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I'll be kicking around there Thurs. night and Friday, hopefully we'll run into each other.

I'm very disappointed that they won't be creating any extra space for cash games. It's generally tough to get on a table there to begin with, and with the number of tournament players hanging around wanting to kill some time...

Those of you who have played in tournaments at Casino Regina know that they accomodate the flood of poker players in this way: they host the tournament in their ballroom, and at start of day, every table is full of tournament players. As players bust out, tables become vacant, and they convert those tables into cash games. Same goes for the WSOP at the Rio. I was really hoping Fallsview would do this as well.
  • I understand the side game needs, it's a regulatory issue, believe me we would like to capitalize on the participants while in the building.

As for names, we are not permitted to disclose names unless authorized to do so. Pretty close to every "pro" who was here last year is planning to attend again, as well as quite a few new namens, including:

    One who likes oranges
    LAG bald man
other notables who like to "Tilt"

Good luck to all forumers, have fun. Be sure to say hi.
  • So, with the addition of those 3 names: 605 is my guess...and dinner in the ADR is NOT an option... :P
