Info on CPT

I see that there are quite a few events planned for this tour.

What does the overall winner get, other that pride of being the best. Has the cpt come up with a trophy or something?

Thanks,

  • I believe, they will bring some of the top players to a land based tournament (all paid by Canadian Poker Player), and they will compete for some prize money (sponser by CPP and others), and win a trophy and this could possibly be TV Recorded, as it will likely happen next year, and a TV Sponsor may be found by then.
  • The CPT Championship is planned as an open event. Anyone can enter. Top finishers in the CPT Player Standings will have their way paid. A trophy for the CPT top finisher (before the championship) is a great idea. We have looked at some trophies etc. There needs to be some physical recognition, I agree.

    Any suggestions?
  • Trophy of braclet might work also!
  • I'd say a bracelet or ring would be good...trophies are nice but ussually to big for me to take from tourney to tourney to try and intimidate the opposition :)
  • Rings are done, braclets too. Trophy too big. A crystal or glass plaque for photos, but a watch would be great.
  • What about a nice card capper? Say, about the size of a dealer puck of 10K gold and featuring the CPT logo? What should people think of that?

    Nice idea.

I'd say a dealer puck might be a hair too big in size.

Also, it might be nicer for the shape to be non-round so that it's more distinctive from a regular gaming token or chip.

  • I think that's a great idea. Either that, or a silk bathrobe. Nahhh... the card capper would probably be better...
  • Card Capper? hmmmm

I Favour a 10k Ring with the CPT logo.

    1) You can wear it with pride everywhere you go.
    2) It will stick with sports tradition - SuperBowl Ring etc.
    3) You can use it to intimidate players.
    4) It has better marketability for the media "Yes Vince, All_aces has three CPT championship rings this should be a good match"

    RING RING RING RING......
  • "Yes Vince, All_aces has three CPT championship rings this should be a good match"
Man, that'd be sweet. I really have to try and play in as many events as possible this year. I guess I should investigate Ontario CPT events... so far I've only booked Regina, and hopefully Port Perry/Rama aren't already sold out.

    Cheers,
    all_aces
  • A gold buddha with CPT on the belly. Gold, card capper.......

    Fear the buddha
  • how about a money clip that doubles as a card capper?
something to slide ur bankroll out of an have on the table for everyone to admire
  • I like both the card capper idea and the watch. Hopefully I'll get to play in an event but the Ontario events will probably sell out fast.
  • I'm all for the ring/bracelet/ or watch idea. Although they've already been done, you still want to be able to wear something around from tournament to tournament....both for the intimidation factor, and ego gratification factor. Sure we're all playing poker for money, but who doesn't like to say they're numero uno? You already know you are number one, so a trophy on the mantelpiece at home doesn't let anyone else know your are. A ring or watch tells everyone exactly who's sitting down at the table. It somehow loses it's effect if you're sitting down at the table and plunking down your plaque or trophy.
  • in the masterclassics in amsterdam you win a dinner plate. no joke

  • If they make it a trophy and I win one, I'll turn it into a necklace :)
  • How about a Gold/Silver Poker Chip with CPT logo in center for a card capper..
  • what about a pendant that u can take off the chain to use as a card capper?
  • How bout a weekend with Pamala Anderson?
  • How about a card capper shaped like Pamela Anderson?
  • "What you got?"

    "One pair."
  • For those interested, YHead events will be capped at 240 players. THere are appoximately 90 entries as of today for the no limit event.

Unlikely that getting a seat will be a problem, however, cannot hurt to get the entry in early.

    See you all there.
  • 10K gold reflective sunglasses!
  • 240 you sure?

I was told 250 over the phone
  • The watch/ring idea is solid. I would not want to be seen to be copying the WSOP. But I also like the idea of a trophy. The Canadian Open golf championship used to hand the winner an original soapstone carving. Many winners have reported that it was the only trophy they displayed OUTSIDE of their trophy rooms, due to the uniqueness of the award. I think something, other than the traditional style of trophy, would be an appropriate companion to a ring. :canada:
  • At this point, my thinking is a 2" diameter 1/4" thick pewter card capper (in handsome wooden and velvet box). The card capper is stamped with the CPT Logo and word "Champion"

I am also looking at 8" vertical acryllic trophy (the CPT logo) on a masonary base (in addition to card capper) for winners of televised events (and to answer that questions... no, there is no TV deal in place so don't ask. We are still working on it).

    Thoughts?
  • Here is something original. How about a tattoo. If you win you cant pussy out!I have vowed never to get one but for the first CPT Championship...I would make an exception. :)
  • Tiger,

That is typical of yellowhead... Overall a good poker room, but you tend to get different information from different people.

There is a new poker manager and she is the one who said 240, but the number could very well be 250!

I registered over the phone today as they said there were approx. 200 entries for Saturday (but the fellow did not have the exact no. and I would not be surprised if that # is high).

    See you all there.
