I was there last Wednesday night, and yes they were running it.
Just 1 table I believe, and there were tons of ppl playing 10-20 hold'em waiting for a seat to open up.
Seems like the bigger limit action at the GBH has dried up. I can't get a 50-100 game there at all lately and most of the regulars which play bigger have not been around. Probably cause of the strike earlier. I came back from a road trip and there's only 20-40 now -
Despite what people may claim. We are in fact running a 20-40 Omaha Hi game daily without a problem. When I walked in to the poker pit at noon there was 2 20-40s and 1 20-40 Omaha running. The Omaha game had ran overnight. The GBH has the best action in Ontario right now.
I am not sure if you are aware but we now accept phone in reservations. You have 1 hr to show up and check in after calling.
I don't know, I just play all over the country. EG, the WSOP side action this year on one day had five 75-150 omaha, one 20-40 omaha and two 10-20 omahas all going at the same time, all hilo. number or high only games - zero. There were a number of PLO games which is the only way hi only plays any good. What you said is proof that poker players will play a bad game if it is all that is offered and they learned nothing else. The same way the whole province was weaned on Limit Holdem which might be the bottom of the barrel for enjoyable poker games behind everything else. But that is all we were allowed to spread.
And why would you get a list for Hilo if you arent licensec anyways? And the players have never been introduced to it. I will admit hi only is easier for players who know nothing about the game to start at though.
PS, hilo is also a lot better for the house as the money circulate better and players bust out slower --- and the games tend to run longer hours as you get more sitters in them.
We have insane hi action at the casino, drop by and check it out sometime. Our players pay a session fee and would not be happy getting less hands per hour due to chopped pots.
BTW, if you start spreading a PLO game which you should be able to get approved as Windsor has had one in the past, I may show up every week. I would recommend making it a scheduled game with a weekly reservation system like Greektown has. The best blinds for your room would likely be 2-5 or 5-10 with a minimum buyin of 100 times the small blind.
If it goes, possibly go to twice a week or add in a weekly round by round PLO and NL HE.
Ed, I wish we could but we are limited to what we can run due to our max limit of $100 bets. We managed to get approval a couple of years ago to run a 100-200 hold'em game. If there is a way to get PL we are there for sure PLO is a huge game
truth be told, the only reason I have never been there is because it was the last holdout of the smoking poker rooms. I played a lot at Orillia, brantford and Niagara and a real lot at Windsor since coming to Ontario to run the poker section of one of the old roaming charities.
I will try to check out your casino now that I live in London when I get back from Foxwoods in a couple weeks. thanks for the comments and GL.
Since there hasn't been a response in the other GBH thread, can you please post the format and blind schedule for the November 14 tournament at GBH? I know that there will be six more of these $240 rebuy tournaments in 2008, so it would be nice to have the tournament information posted here and the GBH website. Will the three $500+ and two $1,000+ tournaments be freezeouts with no rebuys?
Sorry I am not ignoring you. I am currently on holidays and I am sure that the Poker Manager will answer this for you. If not, when I get back to work I will be sure to post em

Have a nice day,

They sometimes get a list for hi/lo but I am always told by the dealers that noone there knows how to deal it anyhow...hahaha
