  • Co-hosted by one of our very own Devin Armstrong.
  • yayyyy devo

i will be watching it all, looking forward to yelling at my tv about the wonky plays i am sure to see
  • Just in case anyone wants to watch.
  • That was a LOT of fun to do... Mr. Landsberg is a pleasure to work with and the production team was pro all the way. And no, I'm not just saying that. ;)

I think I was a little hard on the woman in the very first episode, but oh well. You can take the guy out of Poker Night Live, but you can't take the Poker Night Live out of the guy I guess! Old habits die hard. I must admit that it is harder to berate people's play when you can actually see what they look like... much easier to ridicule faceless anonymous screenames.

Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy the rest of the series. It was interesting to work on... I didn't actually see any of the footage before I did the commentary so it's all off the top of my head, and the info. I had was more or less what you can see on the screen in real time.

    GL all.
  • "Best poker player in Canada"... do you think?? You should come out to the Ryder Cup and teach us a thing or two... just pulling your leg :) I actually enjoyed your commentary better than the previous guy as you were a lot more honest with your comments. Nice come back in round #2, although I thought the guy who lost was a solid player and just ran into some bad cards.
  • I caught a bit. The guy who called AI with 84o, was he really so short-stacked that he had to call with any two? Devo, you sounded a little surprised yourself. It looked like he had a few blinds left (which leads me to note that chip stack updates weren't as frequent as they could have been - can anything be done about that?).
  • the editing was crap as in prior years since players that were behind before the commercial break, come back after the commercial break with the chip lead with no explanation as to why or how. Granted the levels I think were 30 minutes and the total taping is likely 4-5 hours squeezed into 45 minutes for TV.

Good questions... I didn't have any more info than you did, so whenever I was shocked by a person's play, I would express my surprise but then point out that they might have been incredibly desperately short-stacked, just in case the player in question is sitting at home screaming "I ONLY HAD TWO BIG BLINDS" at the TV.
  • I dunno but the show seems lack something
I watched the 1st episode, caught the last 5minutes of the 2nd.

I found it quite boring, is it just me or what?

other than that, good having all_aces do the
    commentary :)

I think the show lack boobies
is Jennifer Tilley available for guest something
    or HSP waitresses :p
  • Just outta curiousity, I watch abit of Degree Poker on TSN, what are they payouts like for that tournament?

$100k for first (and seat in $10k WSOP main event), $10k for second and I think third gets $5k; unfortunately this is more than likely the last year for Degree and your chances of getting in were less than 54/25000. Season III is more or less a best of as the first two season final table players got invited back.
  • hey hey peeps hope you enjoyed lol
  • Hey All Aces / Devin - This is Craig Macrae by the way
Nice job and I know I talk a lot, trying to take the commentating away from you haha
Drop me a line at sinproductions@rogers.com
  • good job last night Craig; making it to the top 3 again is great and you can't complain as you were ahead pre-flop but you know how poker goes sometimes. I guess I will see you on Sunday.

    Jim
  • Yea nice job craig. :) Seems like most of those guys are really nervous, must be their first live televised poker tourney.
  • It's painful watching degree poker on tv [without sound at the gym]. Somebody fucking bet already! When a guy checks to you twice don't fucking check it down.

very true; don't you think you would have killed these tables... I love the comments from last year's champion who said he played a lot more aggressive this year... please...
  • Ya I have to admit that I should have played more aggressive near the beginning. The hand they showed where I bluffed after missing my draw (btw I had planned on bluffing the whole way and was not "chasing" an inside straight draw), I pretty much had nothing and bluffed all my pots in the first couple hours, once the blinds started going up at an insane rate, just look at these jumps! (2000-4000, 4 - 8, 10-20, 20-40, 40-80, 50-100)
I really didn't pick up that many hands and it was much harder for me to go "do I want to commit 1/3 of my chips with garbage."
I wait 5 hours for that perfect situation to come up where I had AQ vs K9 vs KQ, what they didn't sound up was that I talked the guy into calling so he could eliminate both of us, hoping for the triple up and then I could have had a chance heads up.
Oh well, what can you do.

But isn't that the whole idea of bluffing?
  • there is calculated bluffing and picking your spots and stealing blinds, and then there is dumb bluffing :)
  • plus you told me not to play 7-2 this year so that took a lot out of my game lol
  • I hope you bring a better game face tomorrow as no more amateur night!
  • Wooo Championship tonight :)
who do you guys want to win?
  • the old Italian guy; he seemed so overwhelmed and appreciative.
  • u don't think this charity tournament is going to be a donk fest? lol like it's really hard to get into this thing. Easier then degree haha
  • Nice job Craig.

I watched the finale back... thought it was pretty cool that the million dollar hand started with Ts Js Qs Ks...
  • really brutal editing in the head's up; that Rocco guy is leading all the way through the first 30 minutes and then he wins a big hand; they come back from the commercials and the other guy now has the chip lead some how. They definitely need someone at the company to help with the editing because it is some of the worse editing I have ever seen for a poker tournament. Anybody else notice this slip up? Really interesting $1MM hand.
  • Devo, care to comment on the structure?

I noticed when the blinds went to 50k/100k that nobody at the table had 10BB (someone was just under 1M in chips).

Being as I could not get a real read on how the table was playing, it seemed to me that it quickly became a crapshoot.

Did enjoy the 4 to a str8 flush though...:)
  • If this tournament did anything else it made people aware poker is played at Casino Rama. I checked their upcoming schedule but can't understand why the tournaments are on mondays during the day. Who are these tournaments for any way? If you did pay the $300 to play does anyone know what the payouts are and what the maximum number of players is.
