Where... please where!!!

Ok...
What limit / poker site do you have to play to avoid donkeys?

Don't answer stuff like "in the long run you'll make money off them" as it seems on PS they're just EVERYWHERE.

Calling big pf raise with nothing, calling all-in, just plain playing bad ALL the time but hitting it and then they think they're the shit.

So... what limit do oyu have to get to to AVOID those players and play with some people that at least know hot to play?
Or has online poker become a big joke and donkey-fest?

Just feels like I'm wating my money and time playing something that is virtually hopeless.

Maybe it was and I never realised it ... ?

    I wish it still was...sigh.

It's called variance, and if you can't accept it then you're not really "playing poker" you're in fantasy land as much as the so called donkeys you're playing against.
  • Then let me ask a question... could it be possible that I'm not playing with a big enough bankroll ?

You're probably playing at limits too high for your bankroll.

What limits are you playing at and what's your BR?

"Typical" advice would be you need something like 300BB (Big bets) for full ring FLHE games. 500BB might be more advisable in shorthanded games. Something like maybe 20 max buyins for NL (I'm sure someone else could comment on this)? STTs and MTTs I don't have a clue.

And by "typical" this would assume you are a winning player, and you have a high degree of probability of not going bust. That's not to say that you CAN'T. I've recently been through a -300BB (and yes that's Big Bet, not big blind) downturn. Needless to say it sucked, but variance in 6 max will typically be higher than fullring as well (even more so if you play headsup I'd imagine).

It's totally natural for players to go through a stage where they think they should move up to ,"... where other players respect my raises"

How many hands have you played?
    What limits do you play?
    How much have you won/lost?

I find PS to be one of the tougher sites to play at. If you're looking for as donkey-free an environment as possible, you're in it. Compared to say, 18 months ago, it's now tighter than *insert something amusing here*.
  • I can only speak of sites that I can play on. PokerRoom and UB both have their share of donkeys at tables, but a good game can still be found. I find that it's important to ID the players at the table and if you remember them to take notes on them. It would be a lot harder for the micro-levels since players down here are a dime-a-dozen. Nonetheless, I've played a couple of tables on PokerRoom that shocked me greatly when players were playing a more solid game. There would be the loose call here and there, but generally they were playing really well.

Mind you, it really depends on the levels that you want to play at and if you can find that kind of game on the penny-blind ring games, then good on you, especially if you have bankroll management issues. Yet, the lower the level, the greater percentage that you are going to find yourself virtually seated across, and beside a number of players who won't get scared off a hand just because it costs them literally pennies.

I find that especially in online play, one will throw their money into the pot a lot easier just because they don't have the physical money or the physical chips representing money in front of them. It's just point-and-click bingo.
  • I suppose the cliched and sarcastic "move up where they respect your raises" is the only reply to someone who is seriously asking where he can play to go against fewer unskilled players (without the reason being to learn/toughen their own game).

I guess I am one of those wacky old school guys that believes more money can be made from weaker, bad players then strong tricky ones.

  • I play a pokerstars also under (Schabert). Been playing there for about year and half, I've noticed theres alot of donkeys playing hands they shouldn't, the only ways ive been having success is being really patient when it comes to picking hands you want to play, and playing proper positioning. Sometimes, I felt like I never was going to play a hand I waited so long, eventually I hit some big hands and started to build my stack. My way was just being patient, I really can't say much else. Rarely will a donk have you beat if you have an excellent starting hand....unless he really sucks you out hard. :)
  • you should have at the very least 10 buy-ins for whatever limits you play.
and no, nobody can control where donks go, so yes, there everywhere.
