New to this site. Not sure where I should be posting this question, but I would like to know when another player has the right to ask for the "exact" count of another players chips?
A player could ask anytime he wanted to. However, you really shouldn't unless you are about to call an all in by the other player, and you're contemplating calling and want to know the impact to your own stack.
A player who constantly asks everytime action is to him...well, he won't be sitting that long at the table.
In NL, anytime you want. Anyone gives you a hard time you are within your rights to tell them to get fucked. If you want a rough idea you should be able to approximate the chips in front of your opponent. That is why they aren't supposed to hide the big value chips behind the small ones.
Don't ask for a count on every hand. It slows things down and shows you aren't paying attention to the game, which implies the chip count isn't all that important to you anyway.
