Tracking your game

Hi all, i'm trying to track my play a little more diligently and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a form they use or where I should look for one. I have one made now but want to make sure i'm not missing anything.

thanks

Then buy it or earn it through PSO. I really can't say enough good things about it - if you play online, get it. Next time you're over, ask me and I'll show it to you.
  • wow that good eh, i guess i'll have to look into it, thanks.
  • Dude I don't play at sites that it doesn't work at. You must have it. I also paid for PokerAce HUd, but GameTime+ is not bad, but only PokerACe Hud works with tourneys.

My HDD crashed and I lost about 100k hands worth of data. That loss out of all the stuff I lost bothers me the most. The stuff you can learn about your game from 100k hands of data is unbelievable.

For ex what's left of my database has 126,000 hands in it and my biggest loser is 73o, but my VPIP (voluntarily put in pot) is 0.26%, ok so I am not worried about that because basically that loss is just from folding in the blinds and unavoidable, but my 4th biggest loser is A3o and my VPIP is 12.62%. So obviously A3o is a leak in my game. Well it isn't anymore, but as I said I lost a big chunk of data between Jan-Aug07, so this is kinda based on older data. But it is a good example nonetheless. I can also see that since I restored the database, Aug21, I got A3 5 times and played it zero times. Leak gone.

Another eg I can see is I cold called a preflop raise with KQo 86 times in 1148 times, which seems kind of worrisome because the next highest is AQo at 48 times in 1215 times. So maybe that is a leak. But if I filter out the DB for KQo and cold calling only, I have lost a grand total of $15.60 over those 86 times, so obviously, I can get away from it if I miss and if this is a leak, it is not really costing me.

This is just post game analysis that I sort through every 3 months or so as a long term improvement. What I really use it for it the heads up data I get during live action. That's where you get the instant return on your purchase. Just knowing for eg that in 25 opportunities AcidJoe tried to steal the blind 2 times, tells me if he raises my blinds, he really has a hand and I can fold easily. However if DrTyore has stats of 18 times in 25 times, well, I am looking that donk up if he tries to steal on me. And if you are just sitting down at a table and DrTyore's stats pop up that you have played 310 hands already with him, you may not remember him, but all his stats on how he plays are instantly there for you. (DrTyore = DONK). ha ha j/k.
  • Soo... pokerace or pokertracker? :)
  • Both. PokerAce is just the ontable display of player stats. PT is the actual database. You'll need PT before using PA.
  • kk.. downloaded both I'll see what it does today ...
    thks!

    edit:

Do I have to (in poker tracker) toclick the "start timer" thing if I want it to record stars live or ace thing will do that for me ?
  • yes you do
  • i have no idea how to set this poker tracker up....does anyone have a link or can assist me in setting it up for myself? :)
  • In the program itself you can go to the PT forums. There is a sticky there with a decent how to guide.
