I don't know why a person would make the worst possible assumptions then make such a hateful post when I was just trying to find a solution to stpboy's idea of a Royal Cup trophy. I love playing poker in K-W whenever I can make it, whether it is at Zithal's, g2's, Royal Cup, etc.
I love the Royal Cup and that is why I have captained or played in all of them. I arranged to have poker table tops brought in for the past two Cups so that we can all have fun playing poker with each other for 12 hours on a poker table. As any captain knows, finding and organizing a team of 8 players is a big headache, especially if at least half of your teammates cannot return, but when great players like Kristy_Sea and waltsfriend ask to join the team, then it is all worth it.
Anyway, thanks to Kristy_Sea, compuease, stpboy, The Prophet 22, STR82ACE, Wolffhound, beanie42, etc. for all coming to my defence before I read the post. I look forward to seeing you all at Royal Cup IV, including Big E.
Your incessant whining really is pathetic, if you hate the area so much and can do nothing other then complain about a fantastic event like the Royal Cup then why don't you and your stupid Pirana's just fuck the hell off.
I wasn’t going to keep this thread going, but I decided against it.
Why is speaking your mind so important in this case? Freedom speech comes with a price. My first question would be this; did you ever talk with Blondflish? Even if it was through a PM as to how you felt about the way the team acted before making this a public affair?
then why don't you and your stupid Pirana's just fuck the hell off.
As a team captain from the past, I can tell you how difficult it is to put a team together let alone keep all 8 players from the first team that entered this event. How was his team different than any other really? Do you really want a list of all the classless things that happen at this events and other poker events to be listed here on the forum? I think there would be a lot of hurt people. All the teams want to win; some express it in an outward fashion. To say that isn’t class … well I looked at it as a extreme confidence in there abilities and a strong desire to win and true excitement when they do win.
I have made the trip to Toronto several times to play against the group of guys Buddy plays with and they are no difference then the group from this area. People who love to play poker and general just trying to get thru life and bills and taking some enjoyment playing some cards and meeting new people.
Buddy is a guy who loves poker and travels a lot to play and has come to various events this way including several West Side events. He himself help out anyway can, whether it is in chipping up, sorting a deck of cards or putting chairs and tables away.
Knowing that we haven’t had poker tables at any of the previous RC, Buddy when out of his way to get table tops and cards for us to use to make things a little better.
I think the Pirana's showed zero class last year and although I do not know the guy who is blonde fish he was their captain. I know I had a couple who were just plain asses at my tables.
Maybe that was part of there strategy was to piss people of, watching the pro they do it all the time to gain an edge. I know lots of people who are great people but when it comes to competition they are the absolute worst people in the world. I will still gout out with them but I just can’t be on the same ball team, etc.
I love the thing that is the Royal cup and I also know you can't always like everyone at your table...heck, ask the other 7 people at my table, they'll tell you....but it's still a great day. I just hope the Pirana's field a team with a little more class this year.
Some times you have to take what you can get in order to field a team.
p.s. Brent, you know I like and respect you but for the record my comments were not "picking on someone different". I don't know who this guy is other then the Captain of the Pirana's...and trust me, I am certainly not "popular".
Here is what I meant by that statement.
There are several places to play poker in this area and several talented people that run tournaments and leagues etc. We generally all support one another and go to all the games. Therefore when we meet in a stage like the RC, we, “KW and surrounding area” make up almost 75% of the field. So I can understand when Beanie says it can be a sociable event to see everyone. I would then say then say 15% is made up from people who post regularly on the forum. We feel we know these people because we have read their post as they share there insights in to poker, trips they have gone on etc. That leaves 10% of unknown players. And these are the people whom are different and not part of the 90% of the people that everyone knows.
I really believe if you had PM Buddy aka blondefish, you could have made you point known to him without hurt feelings and embarrassment. Buddy is a stand up guy!!!
What makes the RC a great event is that this is a team event that you can play with your buddies rooting for them etc.
If you really want to make it a true social event have people sign up and draw names out of a hat to form teams and then take the prize pool out of the equation. Then people wouldn’t care if they won or lost.

PS If you want to go to an event in Georgetown on a Friday night, let me know. I will pay for it and you can play and meet some of these guys. I will introduce you to the ones I have gotten to know the past few months.

Good point, perhaps my comment should not have been made public.

Although I can agree with this comment everyone interprets things differently and I felt they showed little or no class last year but I understand your point of view and completely agree people are different when in the heat of competition. I myself am VERY different when competing. If this was indeed their strategy that still does not make it appropriate or acceptable. Hopefully you can also understand how some people could see things the way I do?

This I totally agree with and would like to extend my apologies for publically trashing Buddy.

I love it, wicked plan, being that Wolff is our captain this year this may be the team rule!!!
