Acting out of turn - house rules

I didn't want to hijack the other thread, but I was wondering what people think about the house rules that react to players acting out of turn. I have seen two options:

1. Players action is binding - as seen at Niagara

2. Play only has the option to call; a raise does not count - as seen at Rama.

I assume that in both cases that if the action changes there is the option to allow the player who acts out of turn to adjust their bet.

My question is which house rule do you prefer.

  • I personally prefer option 2 as it shoots an angleshooter in the foot. However, I have shot myself in the foot under both rules by not following the action closely enough personally. I think if there is no punishment (ie allowing to raise even tho out of turn) then that person will continue to do it. I just personally wish there was a standard rule we could all agree with then it's over and done with. I think every TD should cover this and exposed cards prior to a tourney and then no one has an excuse.
