Fold-Happy table

Hi,

So I was playing on stars yesterday in a triple shootout for the sunday millions and my table was really fold-happy.
Which means... no call on raise, except on rare rare occasion.

So... on that kind of table, do you keep on raising with good hands and just wins some blinds or you check/call and hope to see action post-flop ?

  • I'd raise on pretty much any reasonable hand (not just "good" ones). If no one is calling any raises, you can make a lot on stealing "just blinds".
  • If you can win the pot uncontested do it.
Don't want some crap hand coming in cheap and hitting.

If someone plays back at you, then they probably have some sort of hand.

It's even better when you raise 3 times with garbage and then find Aces and raise again. Odd are someone will try toplay Sherrif. :)

I remember playing a tourney on party where it was folded to me on the button I raise take the blinds. Next hand small pockets so I raise and take the blinds. Next hand I raise, get called by the BB, he checks I bet out and it's a fold. Next hand was the AA hand where I raise, the Button re raises, the BB pushes. I think I broke Moose's wrists getting my chips in.

And NO they didn't get cracked but my raises got a lot of respect till I moved tables.
  • It's probably less of question of cards, or blatant stealing..but more of the tables perception/frustration level.

I would steal most/all hands in position and raise many, if not all of my blinds... until someone makes a stand, then you raise all the pots that the hero has opted out of (the number of which depends on their position relative to yours) until you've got hero #2, eventually you have gotten the tighties off of their wallets, playing a style they're not usually comfortable with and as a bonus you've trained them to pay you off for any bonafide monsters you're fortunate enough to pick up. In the meanwhile you've collected a lot of blinds and antes.

It always makes me think of Jurrasic Park, where the raptors are serially testing the electric fence for weak spots... you get the odd shock here or there when your opponent pushes back, but eventually they just explode and you push through to the next proving ground.
  • Thanks for the tips I guess I'll be more aggressive in these situation and hopefully I'll have better results :)
