PokerForum.ca Omaha Tourney Hand Analysis

I believe this was actually my very first time playing an Omaha (high) tournament for money.

To the Omaha specialists (or anyone of course): Is there any way I don't get busted on this hand?

Specific questions:

1. Would anybody put in any kind of raise (this is PL) with two small pair (ds) pre-flop from the SB? Calling seemed to make the most sense to me.

2. Was my conclusion that the opponent probably doesn't have Aces since he didn't raise pre-flop way off? That is to say, how often to typical players raise in PL with AAxx?

Whatever the answer to #2 is, Master Chief's play here sure worked out well for him. :cool:

I don't know that anyone was really playing omaha with any clear plan, in this tournament. Perhaps due to inexperience with the game. I did try an raise a few time at the beginning with good suited connector and AA KK and the like. But play was so lose that I basically decide to just limp in with good hands and hope to hit the flop and then bet, otherwise fold it down to and agressive bet. Then again I play mostly omaha8 since I like to HI/LO aspect.

Oops in answer to your question there in no way I believe you could have played this hand better. I would have put him on 2 pair not a set of A's.

But as I said I am not an Omaha expert in any sense of the word. Perhaps some more enlighten members can help.
