Idiots at every level!

Apologies for a bad beat thread but I'm steamed. How the hell can I finish 4th 10 out of the last 11! This skid is going to take weeks to build back up at the donk limits. AARRRRRRRRRRRRGG!

  • Ya thats pretty bad.
  • OK, I can get behind a good "Variance sucks" thread.

    My last month:
  • Although I usually only play $33 tourneys, I concur about ridiculous donk moves affecting variance big time. Whenever I run bad, I notice the following is very typical:

UTG raise, TAG MP reraise, button repushes w/ MP pot committed (MP would be getting 3.5 to 1 even if UTG folds).

UTG calls w/ QQ, MP calls w/ KK, & button shows 77.

After hitting a set & winning, button explains he was 'trying to put your stacks to the test, see if you guys can fold' (despite MP being pot committed).

    Whitehorse,

You were correct to jam AKs, heck it's profitable to jam T5s or T8o here ...

My favorite situation is where it looks like you're playing bad. But you're playing correctly.

Do you know how loose you can call with here???

I get the feeling that you don't understand how loose you can call in this situation.

    I call a shove with Q7s if it's 10.6 BB... here it's roughly 10.6 BB so it's not too bad a play.

I call with Q8s if my stack size is 13 BB, Q9s with stacks sizes of 16.2BB.

    Suggestion.

Memorize a push or fold table. It will give you a huge edge over people who are just guessing.

// Sorry for hijacking your bad beat post and trying to post some intelligent content. :-)
// I just realized this is probably a single table tournement with a 50/30/20/0 prize distribution.
// Ummm let met take my foot out of my mouth ....

    Yuck that's a horrid downswing.

Have you made any changes to your game.

I read the new Full tilt poker book and dropped 23 big blinds in one session ... at the CNE no less.

    Curse you Howard Lederer.
  • Yep, I understand counter intuitive/ICM etc..., Q7 shove is fine, Q7 bubble call for all your chips against the tightest guy at the table not so much. Oh well, just whining on my part anyway.

None that I'm aware of, although I'm sure some % of that is less than optimal tilt induced decision making. Break time for a bit I guess.
  • If you ever want to feel good about how insignificant your downswing is, check out the News, Views and Gossip board on 2n2.. I believe srugby (Brian Townsend) is down 1.4 million right now :-)
