Ontario Poker?
Hey Guys,
Its been a long while since I last posted. Hope everything is well and the spam is at a minimum...lol
Question for the K-W region. I live in Halifax and can find a game every night of the week and feel comfortable that I am not going to get cheated, busted by the cops, or get jumped if I win alot of cash. Is this the same for those of you in K-W?
I plan on coming back home to Ontario in the fall and was wondering if it will be easy to find a tourny format game like this....

When you get here, you MUST try out Bristol, The Shop, and Westside. I know many of these players and can almost guarantee you total satisfaction at the way they all run their games (except The Shop, since I have yet to get my ass there, but I know those that run it wouldn't tolerate any kind of bullshit).
You may want to check out some of the TO clubs as well, or better yet, play a game or two with us at Ching Hill. I know Brenda would be thrilled to see you again.
A cash table usually spawns after enough people are out as well. Only regulars and people who were in the tournament are invited to the cash table. Cost is a one time $5 to buy in and then however much you want in chips (max is $100).
I've been going there for almost 2 years and there has never been a police problem and the people are always there in good spirits.
There's also some regulars there who, once they get to know you may extend invites to thier regular home games. Most of these are Friday or Saturday nights.
You play on top of Pool Tables, the cards are old and marked, and though the players are pleasant enough and well *learning* players which is normally an advantage..this also means that they are still working on such basics as how to deal. Meaning you get about 2-3 hands at each of the doubling blind levels if you're lucky. Much obnoxious posturing, stare down and sunglass positioning before each call. Westside is much better value for money.
Hold out for the Westside's for tournament style, Bristol's for fun/social and of course The Shop for cash, Good luck Crummer!
Most players there are sub-average and that helps me make more money. But you are right it makes for a rather unstructured game many nights and some times I walk away just shaking my head. There are a handful of good players though and usually by the final table things are better as the others get weeded out. Everything but $5 gets paid out and that $5 is just a mandatory drink purchase so the money is there to be made.
I enjoy it and I am net positive there so thought I'd throw it out there as an option. It certainly meets all of the stated requirements in the original post.
I'd love to try out Westside when I get the chance though
I will likely try and make it out to a few of these when I get home. I will let the board know and maybe we can get a group together if there is enough interest.
thanks!
Umm, I really am not looking for a fight here, but I'm pretty sure someone Died there a year or two ago (stabbed, or something) 'safe and non-threatening' is probably not the right term.
(I'll see if I can find a link to the story somewhere)
Don't post the story here, there's no reason to annouce the location of this game on the internet.
I wasn't looking for a fight either, just confused what you were disaggreeing with based on my post. Don't read any bad thoughts into my post .
I did win another $225 last night for 3rd.
