Cadillac Trip Report - Las Vegas

Vegas July 8-12

July 8 is Mrs. Cadillac’s B-Day and using both Good Luck and Good Management I convinced her that Vegas would be a great B-Day gift.

Fly out of Detroit 7am all is smooth and on time. We are in the Wynn by 9:30 local time and room is obv. not ready. I had emailed ahead and to request an early check-in and since there was no room at the INN they give us an upgrade. Seriously, who is going to have available rooms at 9:30 Sunday AM. Thanks for the comp!!

Hoof around the area for a bit, shop, check-in, take a nap and out to dinner at the Steak House at Treasure Island. 2 Cocktails, bottle of red, apps and entries and we are at $245US tip included. 10oz Filet was out-standing! The service was amazing too, which is something easy to appreciate when you live in customer service HELL aka Canada.

Hotel and Room is absolutely sick. Not a detail missed in the entire place. Room was huge and bed was amazing, flat panel LCD swung out from the wall, great view of the strip from the 53rd floor. Nice nest for the wife whilst I go a pokering.

Poker room at the Wynn is really nice. Lots of TV’s and flat panels showing updated interest and waiting lists. $1-3NL is the small game here but it has an unlimited buy-in. I watched enough from the rail to recognize some weak spots in these games but I am simply not rolled for it. Interesting note: They use $1 and $3 chips in this game.

Also saw lots of $2-$5NL and some $5-$10NL running as well. $4-$8, $5-$10 and $8-$16 LHE was running almost the entire time I was there, they also spread some Omaha.

Monday I cab it to Bally’s to play some cash before I head across the street to Ceasars for their 11PM tournament.

Bally’s sucks IMO. There are seven tables in a roped off area in the middle of the Casino. It is loud and the dealers were cranky. One older guy was the brush and running chips. He had a hard time keeping up but I got seated pretty quickly. The first hand I play is here. Welcome to Vegas. I grind back about $60 and head over to Ceasars.

Ceasars is a beauty of a room. Totally segregated from the Casino you walk down a hall to the brush. Big room with a huge tourney room in the back. I played the $120 buy in at 11PM for $2500 in chips 30 min levels.

Interesting hand:

I have $2300 at $100-$200 and mid-position guy who just came to our table makes it $800, he has about 10K behind. I have AA, tank, then shrug and move in. He says, “That smells like AK to me, I call.” And tables 4c5c.

“That was gift,” he says.

“Yes, it was.”

“I’ll have’em back soon enough”

“Don’t count on it.”

LOL

I get nothing going but cruise along stealing enough to stay afloat and finally run AJ into KK. GG.

I was pretty cold decked most of the tourney but did manage to nurse my small stack to an 18th place finish for $0 out of about 160 entrants. Final table paid.

I played the following afternoon at Planet Hollywood. I liked the room and the cash tables were very soft. They seem to revolve everything around these $60 tournies they run. $1-$2 has a $200 max buy-in. They opened a new table with 6 players and we played short for about 20 mins before the game filled up.

Mid position opens for a $10 raise, CO who is a dealer at the RIO calls and so do I with 99 on the button.

Flop = 994

Checks to RIO who bets $20 and I call. MP folds.

Turn = A

Check, check.

River is 3. He checks, I bet $20 and he calls with 77.

9999 is good for the pot and a $221 jackpot. Ship it.

Five to the flop for $5 and I am BB with Jc10s effective stacks $325.

Flop = Ah Jd Jh

Checks to cut off (very aggressive) who bets $20, I am the only caller. ($65 in pot)

Turn Ks.

I check, CO bets $25 and I raise to $110. He calls. ($265)

River Ac. Yuck

I check / fold to a push. He shows Aces full obv.

UTG with AA. There have been no limped pots in like forever. I limp.

Of course 5 limpers but then the BB (dealer from RIO) makes it $25 with $115 still left in his stack.

I move in and it folds around, he says, “No one limps AA any more,” gotta call and try to win a race. He shows JJ and doesn’t suck out.

Not much else for interesting hands but this was pretty funny. Guy on my left is from New York and we are yapping it up at the table while we drink a few beers. A young asian kid comes to the table and sits next to him. Immediately, some dude comes up claiming it’s his seat because he is next up on the list and acting a bit agitated. The brush comes a minute or so later and tells the second guy to relax and his seat is across the room and escorts him to another table. The young guy is obviously a bit flustered and New York says, “You're probably not old enough to gamble anyway.”

Kid- “I’m all-in that I’m old enough”

New York – “I got $10 here that says you aren’t 21.”

Me – “I’ll take some of that. I’m in for $10 too.”

Kid – “Alright you're on,” puts 4 reds in front of himself.

NY – “Let’s see your ID.”

Kid pulls it out and hands it over shaking his head and laughing.

Kid – “Here you go man. I’m 23”

NY – “So….it is agreed, you are not 21”

LOL

I’ll write some more later if anyone is interested.
