Pot odds etc... for this hand

11 handed 4/8 table (overall loose table)
Your in the SB

Five callers, and then a raise by the BB

You have J7s.

While this isn't a premium hand, with 7 players having money in the pot. (you, SB, 5 callers) ... do you have the pot odds to basicly have the odds to make the half price call from the BB.

I folded ... flop would have given me a flush, that would have held. Was folding the right move?

  • I would certainly fold here facing a raise, but I'd probably call most of the time with this hand from the SB only facing half a bet to call. Pot odds/number of opponents matters a lot in the latter situation, and almost not at all in the former.

Get used to hitting flops with hands you have correctly folded. It takes some discipline to realize that this did not make folding wrong.

  • I'll generally call 1/2 bet when I'm in the SB with most, if not any, two suited cards. As far as suited cards go, once it's raised by the BB, I'll generally fold unless I have Axs/ Kxs or better, suited connectors, or suited one gaps.
