  • Sorry guys, for the lack of updates. I appreciate the support.

Yep, not to be this year - a definite learning experience.

I played a 1K Venetian slow structure tourney on Saturday to help prepare for this ME, as I had never played a deep stack tourney before. The Venetian structure was incredible. 10K starting chips, 25-50 Blinds to start, 1 hour levels. 138 starters, 18 pay. I finished 18th. 12 hours before bubble burst in this one.
I lost a full house over full house early in this one or I am run away chip leader, which would have been dangerous =).

Anyways, the Venetian did not fully prepare me for the WSOP. First off, I didnt feel great the day of, although I dont think that affected my play. I played pretty well, I thought, although I did misplay a few key hands. As I was oft the pre-flop aggressor, I got a short stack (around 5K) to push on me in the 2nd level with Qd9d, when I raised 3x the BB on the "puck". I had AA. Nh other guy. Flop was 468, two diamonds. Turn diamond. I have a red ace. Am I still alive in this debaucle? No, Ah me. Diamond comes on river as well. That hand would have put me at 33-34K. Instead, just over my starting stack. Only one of many hands to report, but I thought I would tell you about a hand I DIDN't misplay!

Full report to come at Friday night poker game in two weeks.

The trip otherwise was great - one of the most fun yet!! We ended up seeing "Ka" - fucking incredible show (still second to "O" though). We found perhaps the most fun place on the planet at "Fast Lap" Go-Karts. You have to put on full racing gear ala Phil Hellmuth. Gloves, Helmuts, Neck Brace, Body Suit etc etc. They time each of your laps to 1/100 of a sec and ENCOURAGE racing your buddies. IT WAS SO SICK. The only damper on the whole experience was the competition. MIng left the gates first, then DAmo, then Kev, then Teach. After passing them all, I then proceeded to lap them all. So fun. The karts were "faster than the track", meaning you had to slow at several corners or risk certain injury/death. It was a skill track OBV. Anyways, highly recommend this place.

Another experience was playing the WYNN GOLF CLUB. Normally, a 500 bucker course, we got on for the bargain basement prize of 250. I played skins against the team of Kev and Damo, and got lambasted. I played very poorly, shooting 87. Kev played out of his head shooting 89. Damo who hit the ball the best, shot 92. I lose big. The golf round came complete with caddie, a real treat.

The usual shtuff also happened. Chinese poker at the Wynn Euro pool. The Price is Right gameshow. Hummer Rental. The usual. We actually took the Hummer out to RED ROCK CASINO to check it out. It was very nice and we ended up eating at a fine Italian place out there. We propped for the bill in a game of chance and dinner was paid for by........MING!

We saw tons of celebs/pokerplayers on the trip including Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle, Cheryl Hines (was in the elevator with me- from Curb Your Enthusiam), Amarillo Slim, Canada Kev, Brian Townsend, Phil Hellmuth, Lisa Kudrow (from Friends fame), countless pro athletes, the rest is actually endless..

Anyways, more stories to be told at Fri night poker. Sorry to disappoint all those invested in me, I really feel that I should have done better. The one thing I learned from this experience is that there really is alot of poor players in the ME. I over estimated and over played a little I think. I am confident that I will play again next year and do significantly better.

PS - Nice to briefly meet you Watts. You still own.
