I got donked on the head tonight in a bellagio nightly 1k tourney...ouch...
one limp UTG, and donkey raises to 425(blinds 50/100)(UTG+1 donkey) action folds around to me in MP and i look down at AdKs off and RR to 1600 total...folds around to donkey who calls after acting all weak... Flop comes down q-7-3 all spades...He leads out for 600 and i shove for 3000 more... he says ok lets gamble and calls me...he flips over As-10c and turns a spade for the nutz...*sigh*
Why do people play such garbage vs me in the second level of a 1k tourney when I've been a knit all tourney so far...bah! Its not about the play post flop because hes 40% to win the hand at that point vs me if i dont have a pocket pair...So its all about the play PF with a-10 off...
I better run well in the main event tomorrow now...lol
good luck all.. I do know that Sirwatts and Steve Paul Ambrose are playing tomorrow as well... So waterloo and canada will be very well represented...
I finished the day 1 with 66k or so...Average was like 55k at the end of the day...Onto day 2 on Tuesday...O yeah I was at 140k after the 3rd level(we played six levels- from noon until 4:30 am) and got all in PF with KK vs QQ and he turned the case queen for the set and the 140k pot win.(yes I would have had 220k or so after the 4th level should that have held) Oh Well! Move onto day 2...
RAKE!!! And some people complain about a $10 rake at the local clubs..sheesh
But some of these clubs are raking big at 1/2. Big rake at 1/2 makes it real hard to win long-term. Also, some of these clubs have been known to overrake, not uncommon (ie not just once/twice).
6% rake is reasonable, especially when only about 4% is going to the casino, unlike some of these clubs where 0% of the rake goes to staff (non-owners).

Now that's a shock.
Apparently they redid the payout forumla that put out more money in the pockets of the other seats, flattened it out across the field more.
I still want to know where the missing $4m is?
4.2% is taken for entry fees
1.8% for tournament staff
4 million just sounds like a lot, but's a small percentage of the total prize pool.

There wasn't even 7,000 entrants this year. With 2,000 few people I think the top prize would be less.
b/c 10,000 - 4.2% - 1.8% is pretty much exactly the same as 10,000+600
