Donkey A high calldowns

Feel free to critique:

And NO, I am not advocating routinely calling down with A high. You should only entertain doing it vs. the right opponents, and even then, you should probably buckle yourselves in for a nice variance ride. Heck, bluff raising might be better in some spots, but the problem is, since I never know what (some) of my opponents are doing anyways, I'll tend to err on the side of getting to showdown. I probably do this too much as is, but I'm a showdown monkey...

Hand 1: Villain is aggro, and a pretty loose defender. I figure the flop call is a light peel more often than a monster, and figure if I check the turn I can induce him to bluff his entire peeling range (which is fairly wide).

This seemed pretty standard as he could have a worse ace, or spades (I don't hate betting turn and checking behind river either, but against an unknown I'm more apt to take the former route vs. an unknown).

Hand 3: Villian is a 85/65/5 maniac that loves to iso 3 bet me with stuff like A-baby, K9o, J8s, etc.

  • Hands like these were why I sucked at limit holdem, my went to showdown % was always too low but I could never figure out which spots to call down more. With that being said I like them i nthis order: 6,1,2,3,4,5.
