Seneca Summer Slam Championship

Is any forumer playing at Seneca Niagara Casino's Summer Slam Championship events? The Main Event starts on Saturday, July 28 with U$1,000+$70 buy-in and $10,000 starting chips and 1-hour blinds.

The Patience Factor is an incredible 50.4, which is comparable to the U$10,000+ WPT/WSOP events. It would take you over 7 hours to get blinded out, which is longer than the WPT tournament I played last year. Is anybody interested in participating or hosting a satellite for this U$1,070 event?

  • Wow, thanks for the info. This is a very nice series of tournies. Someone please hold a sat in the GTA!
  • You're welcome. Forumer The_Game is willing to host a rake-free satellite at his Mississauga home. If there are 20 players for example, the buy-in can be as low as $60, with first place getting the U$1,070 seat and any remaining cash going to second place.

As usual, the satellite structure will be similar to the main event, and participants will get a percentage if the satellite winner makes it to the money. Previous satellite participants have won the $10,000 first prize at Topflight Club, over five $1,600 seats and over $5,000 at a Brantford tournament this year! So even if you don't win the satellite yourself, you still have a decent chance of winning some money just by participating.

If you are interested, please PM or post. If there are enough players interested, the satellite can be held as early as this Sunday afternoon.

  • Thanks for the info Buddy. I personally plan on playing in the main event, or at least the $200+25 w/ 30 min rounds on Friday July 27th. I'm just waiting for a reply from Seneca then I'll be posting about a satellite I'm going to host.

  • Hmm, this does sound pretty good. I think I may buy into the Friday night event if it works with my busy summer schedule. I'll have to let you know Greg and others....

  • So far, around half a dozen players have expressed interest in playing in a satellite, including a $14K winner from the Brantford tournament. Most of them will be playing in the Georgetown tournament on Friday, so if enough players confirm by then, then the satellite in Mississauga can go ahead.
  • Eleanor and I would be interested in a satellite for this.
  • Sounds good to me...if the satellite game in Mississauga is a go, I would be interested in playing. Let us know what's happening Buddy.
  • Satellite @ WPC is on!

Cole, it's not hard to remember.

The Brantford finalist also said that he will participate along with three of his friends. So we have nine sharks so far ready to win money at Seneca. 8)
  • A player who has won at least 15 tournaments this year told me that he wants to play the 7 PM satellite. The_Game, please add P.K. to your list.
  • I'm all set to play this satellite tonight. Would like to know that it is on for sure, and how many players there will be, since this will determine the buyin. Would like to know a ballpark figure prior to game time if possible.
  • At least 8 people have said they are coming, so the satellite is on for tonight. If you cannot make it by 7 PM, please contact Yama. With the seat costing U$1,070 (95% exchange rate?) and assuming second place getting their money back, the buy-in will be around $160 for each of the 8 players: $160 to second place and the remaining $1,120 to the seat winner.

  • A little info I got from Seneca today regarding the Main Event:

We will have room for approximately 350 players. Players need to
register as soon as possible. The full buy-in is required in order to
register for the tournament. Registeration is in the poker room at the
    cashier cage.

  • Does anyone know if Seneca takes the 30% for the witholding tax for big cashes in a tournament like this? I might play it if they don't. If they do, yeah, forget it.

Alternates taken during the first round only. Management’s decisions are final. Tournament Director’s Association rules apply. Residents of foreign countries without a U.S. tax identification number will be subject to withholding 3% of each events prize pool is withheld for tournament staff. Seneca Gaming and Entertainment reserves the right to modify or cancel these events without notice.

The regularly scheduled tournaments on July 25 and 26 at 10 a.m. will still take place. All other daily tournaments are canceled during this event.

  • There were 218 players in the Saturday main event for a total prize pool of U$218,000. Unfortunately, our satellite winner did not make it to the money, but made it to the tenth hour before getting eliminated. Play was stopped for Day 1 two hours later at midnight.

He also played in the U$200 event on Friday, and made it to the money! Surprisingly, 30% of his prize was withheld even though it was less than $1,200.

Anyway, I look forward to The_Game's next satellite - hopefully for the $1,200 Step B satellite seat.
