Brantford Casino Hold em' Tourny

I phoned Brantford Charity Casino last week to enquire about a rumour I had heard about them running a hold em tourny sometime soon. The representative informed me that a tourny WAS in the works but was reluctant to tell me such info as buy-in, player limit or when exactly the tourny was being planned for. She did however let me know that it would likely be sometime this summer. If anyone, at anytime, finds out more info on this a post would be appreciated. What do people think an appropriate buy-in amount would be? The rep told me it was a "reasonable amount", what is reasonable to a casino? I was thinking in the $200- $500 range. What do you think?

Thats funny that you wrote that regarding brantford casino and funny that they totally denied it. I originally heard the rumour from an older gentlman while playing at a 5/10 table in Brantford. Have you heard anything about the buy-in amount?

It is totally weird, I have no information other than they wouldn't ever have one, but that was maybe 6 months ago. Amazing how TV seems to change everything!

Yes they are having a tourney. I play there every week and from talking to the dealers/ bosses the latest details were: $500 buyin, 150 players max. take place June/July. Should be entertaining

Where are they going to fit 150 players? Are they expanding the poker room to 15 tables in the near future? Or are they planning on two consecutive "Day 1" sessions?

Hopefully this actually flies. I'd probably consider giving it a shot.

I think i will have to enter this tournament as the "dead money" favourite, I was thinking that I wouldnt play for anything higher than 300 but the more you bet the more you win right? or is it loose? anyway...i think they could likely put a tonne of players in the room beside where hold em is or use the room at the back where they typically play the higher stakes black jack. We should havea tourny where the winner gets an automatic entry into that tournament? I like winning stuff..

Keep us posted on anything you hear. All i know for sure, is when ever they are saying the tourney might run, add a heap of time to that date, to get the actual run date.
Also about the buyin..unless this is a one time thing, or a very rare occurance I don't think the buyin will be near 500.
If they want these to work and actually have plans to run them more often than hardly ever, I am guessing the buyin would be the 50-200 range.
Another thing I know for sure, the entry fee will make it -EV for even the best players, blind structure won't be too soft either i'm guessing.
With all that said, where do i sign up??

I have given you all the information that I know.

I am not running it and I will try and make the trip to play in it. But... after losing $10K at the WSOP in May I have a feeling I will be "off" poker for a little while.
