Canadian Poker Tour

With the upcoming CPT, I was thinking the forum could use a new section devoted to it.

Also, I was wondering what sort of price range would the buy in for most events, and how would you pay ( cash, check,cc?) ?

Futhermore, I was wondering if any schedule has been worked out?, seeing as I probably could only make the events in B.C.

Cheers,

Irah, Islander99

  • The only one I know of in Ontario now is the one at the Great Blue Heron. December 15th, buy in is $ 200.00 + $ 40.

The talk is of TV coverage for the last table. I heard that since the goverment has very tough rules on video in a casino the will be setting up in the resturant . :canada:

They expect the frist prize to be around $ 25000.00. Game will be no limit, with rebuys for the first hour.

That is my two cents worth!
  • Will the Port Perry CPT tournament have unlimited entries?

    Thanks...Slacker
  • The current schedule is on our site at www.CanadianPokerPlayer.com.

To be a CPT event you must have open registration. In other words, first come first serve with no limits like age, geography, or sex. The host casino can (and all of them will) limit entries based on their facility and staff.
  • Well there seems to be 2 earlier events in ontario listed on the site.

  • When you say no limits on age, I an assuming that you still must be of legal age to gamble?

Also, does anyone know what the rate of a flight/ accomidation would be from vancouver to calgary?
  • Is there a plan for a TV series
  • We are working on TV. It is, like everything else in my life, not as simple as I think it should be. There are lots of pieces of the puzzle to be put in place: sponsor, broadcaster, and producer being the big three. There is a lot of interest, on all fronts but we aren't there yet. The casinos and players have been *super* supportive.

As to age, yes, legal age to gamble in the host jurisdiction.
  • DO u have to sign up to these tournements in person because I live about 5 hrs from both ontario tourneys an I wanna play in them
  • Sign up is with the host casino. Call the info number you will find listed on our website.
  • As to age, yes, legal age to gamble in the host jurisdiction.

To clarify, and highly nitpick, I assume that by this you mean "legal age to enter and play gambling games in the host casino".

Although I have never been able to find *any* sort of minimum legal gambling age in the Criminal Code, someone might (incorrectly in the context of the CPT I think) interpret the "legal age to gamble" in Ontario as being 18, since you may legally buy lottery tickets at this age for example.

However, I assume you need to be at least 19 (the legal age for casino entry) to play in a CPT event which takes place in Ontario.

  • Hi all,

Thought I'd update you on the status of CPT major events in Ontario.

Casino Rama Fall Classic, Nov. 15th: SOLD OUT
Great Blue Heron Tournament of Champions, Dec. 15th: CURRENTLY REGISTERING (you have to register in person at GBH, at the cash cage, with ID.)

And one that's not in Ontario, but should be an excellent tournament:

Casino Regina Harvest Poker Classic, Nov. 9 - 13: NOT REGISTERING YET

Does anyone know if you have to register with the CPT before you register with the casinos? Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I can't find the info. Basically, do I need to fill out some sort of 'CPT' form before I register with GBH, Regina, etc... and if so, where do I get the form?

    Thanks,
