H.O.R.S.E. WSOP structure question

1 300 / 600
3 800 / 1600 200
6 500 / 1000
8 1200 / 2400 300
11 800 / 1500
I'm a doh-head. Just figured out my own question and thought I shared. In the first two level of Hold'em/Omaha the *blinds* are 300/600, which means the *limits* are 600/1,200. The next Studlike levels have an ante of 200 with limits of 800/1,600. The following level has *blinds* of 500/1,000. but *limits* of 1,000/2,000, etc., etc., etc.

Now that I see that the *limits* continually increase everything is right in the world.

PS. The comments from Daniel was that there is actually less play in the $50,000 HORSE event than the $5,000 one, and I think he's spot on.

Here are the comparisons. The starting chips of the two events are 100k and 10k. Note that the $50k event has 1/2 hour blinds v the 1 hour blinds of the $5k event, but with a more gradual rise.

$50,000 Event (Big Limit / BBs of an average stack) - first 4 hours
1,200 / 83.3
1,600 / 62.5
2,000 / 50
2,400 / 41.6
3,000 / 33.3
3,600 / 27.7
4,000 / 25
5,000 / 20

$5,000 Event (Big Limit / BBs of an average stack) - first 4 hours
50 / 200
100 / 100
150 / 66.6
200 / 50

HOLY CRAP. I think he has something valid to complain about. That sucks!!

  • Checkout Daniel's Blog, he had something to say about this year's WSOP HORSE event.

    Hey all,

Was following the $50k HORSE tournamnet yesterday and noticed an unusual blind structure. Does anyone have any input on why the blinds are higher with the Stud-like games?

Just wondering if there's any adjustment I need to make with my own schedule when I run HORSE this year.

    1 300 / 600
    2 300 / 600
    3 800 / 1600 200
    4 800 / 1600 200
    5 800 / 1600 200
    6 500 / 1000
    7 500 / 1000
    8 1200 / 2400 300
    9 1200 / 2400 300
    10 1200 / 2400 300
    11 800 / 1500
    12 800 / 1500
    13 1800 / 3600 400
    14 1800 / 3600 400
    15 1800 / 3600 400
    16 1000 / 2000
    17 1000 / 2000
  • Whoops... edited the original post instead of responding to it...

Original question was why the blinds schedule on the WSOP site seemed to suggest the blinds schedule jumped up and down, in stead of continually rising.

Please read the above for my analysis on Daniel N's comments that the $50k HORSE event has less play than the $5k HORSE event.

Expect the blinds in the $5k to more closely match the $50k next year because they found that the $5k ran far too long. They finally gave up and carried 12 people over to the final day because it was taking too long to get to final table.
