What to do, where to play in Vegas?

Well, my gf is taking me to Las Vegas for my birthday in 2 weeks! :D I have never been there, just wondering for the people who have been there, things I should do while there while not playing poker .

And after I do those things, anybody want to suggest where I can play some low buy-in tourney poker? I prefer it to the cash game and figure my money would "last longer" in tourneys.

Any advice would be great!

  • I think the best choice for low-limit tournaments is the Orleans. Here is their weekly tournament schedule.

Be careful since these are all re-buy tournaments, therefore the "effective" buy-ins are higher than they may appear at first glance.

For (low-limit) cash games, I like the Mirage (as low as 3-6) and Bellagio (as low as 4-8).

    Sleep and eat.

    Maybe.

    Have a great time!

  • thanks for the tips. Yeah, that's what I figured I'd be doing there... sleep, eat, poker! I just found out what hotel the gf booked for our 1 week stay. Out of all the places she chose the orleans LOL :D I'd rather not do the rebuy tourneys, but I may just enter, get blinded down during the rebuy period then play some poker.

I was just checking the orleans' web page and it says that there is a "World Poker Player Association" event the week I am there. ANyone ever heard of this association?

  • if you want a really good, but kinda pricey meal, Del Frisco's is amazing, best steak i've ever had. i also really liked SeaBlue, really good and fresh seafood.
