Georgetown Trip Report
Despite the blackouts, GO station closings and closed off roads in Georgetown and the rest of the GTA, at least 60 players showed up for the weekly Friday tournament, the highest since the grand opening. Players showed up as early as 6 PM to get started on some poker action. More forumers and familiar faces showed up for the first time to check out the great value tournament, which started shortly after 8 PM.
With a huge starting stack of 10,000 chips, which is 200 times the big blind, there was a lot of poker play and I think it was past midnight when it got down to the final table of ten. There was of course a Milton Rock on the final table, and I could tell that he was the player to watch out for. We ended up heads-up, with him having 125,000 chips and me having the remaining ~575,000 chips.
I prefer playing a tournament out to the very end, but I wanted to get in on the side action and offered Mark an increased share of the $1,900 pool for the top two places. The organizer had generously kept the first prize at $1,250 even though that amount was based on a sell-out of 80 players. Mark asked fellow Milton Rock compuease for an opinion of my chop proposal. Since I like Milton players, I increased my offer. I whipped out my PDA and joked with compuease that I was about to calculate the actual tournament $EV using the Independent Chip Model, but we all knew that my offer was more than fair and we chopped.
The Rock and I agreed to play it out for the fun and halibut, as well as determining who would be the official bounty next Friday. Whoever takes out the bounty wins a free buy-in for the following Friday, which is how compuease got to play for free this week. Congratulations to Mark for a well-played heads-up match and for being the next bounty.
P.S. Doing my usual post-game analysis, I used an ICM calculator and my tournament $EV was approximately $1,143 while Mark's was $757, so both my offers were reasonable.

Just want to bump this one as I really feel it is good value and should be fairly easy pickings for some of the more advanced players on this forum. Played it for the first time last Friday, finishing 3rd, and taking out the previous weeks winner which gets me a free buyin this Friday.

The only part the puzzles me is the blind structure? 400-800 to 700-1400 to 1000-2000?
Other than this, the venue, tables, chips, service, and the host is superb!
Eleanor and I are going to try and make it although you maybe a few minutes late.
Chris, El, Romer...REPRESENT!
I was busted out 7th (on the Bubble) when I was short stack in pushed all-in my last 28,000 with K-Q when the blinds were 8000-16,000 and got called by the BB with 9d-4d and the diamond flush appeared.
He is the pros and cons.
Pros:
Each table had a dealer.
Chips were of good quality with the denominations printed on them.
Slow blind levels early on for lots of play.
Large poker style tables (not classic poker tables but table built for poker)
Free food.
Large screen with blind levels clear displayed and easy to read.
Lot's of calling stations (Blinds were 100-200 and one player made it 500 and another called. I was beside the called and had Pocket Kings. I made it 2000 and had both players call.)
Cons:
Air conditioning was a little strong in some spots making it a little cool to players in those spots and causing the cards to flip some times when being dealt.
Lighting was a little dim and sometimes it was difficult to read the board.
Number of smaller chips at the start forced lots of people to keep making change.
Blinds seem to get high fast towards the end. 1000-2000, 2000-4000, 4000-8000.
(I had 30,000 at the 1000-2000 and increased to 40,000 in that level but when the blinds hit the next level was shorter stacked)
Bad beats. (Calling stations have a nasty habit of calling with bad cards and getting lucky)
Overall it was a great game, the pros way out weigh the cons and I will be going back.
Sorry Chris it was 7,4 Diamonds.. lol. It was myself that called from the big blind, I had approx 90K and there was one other caller all in (20K) before me for less than yourself. It was only 12K more to me to win approx 60K, getting 5-1 I had to do it... Just got lucky.. Finished 2nd but as you said, good tourney and I also will be back. Unless you have the stomach for variance, stay away from the 1/2 game though. Lots of gamblers.... I made $80. in 20 min before the tourney started. Two cash tables were still going strong at 2am when I left.
I knew it was going to be an automatic call from the blinds when I pushed so I was just hoping to not get unlucky.
Prophet :2h :2s
I agree with the jumpy blinds but its a great atmosphere, great host, cool tables and service....and not too far of a drive.

Anyway, congrats to compuease and pkrfce9 (whose posts I miss) for cashing into the top four. After opening night, one or more forumers have made it to the money every single week!
Can someone PM me info on the Saturday Georgetown game?
Sunday tournaments yet, except for the ~$7,250 tournament on July 22. I think Sunday afternoons and Wednesday nights are only for cash games, but maybe Interactive Poker can clarify.
By the way, congratulations to CanadaDave's friend and a Milton Rock (as usual!) for making it to the money. The Skill Level 6 tournament was still going on at 3:30 AM until the two finalists agreed to a chop of the $2K. A female player has made it to the top two for the second time.
The previous week, the Ching Hill gang of STR82ACE and ElElliott made it to the final five. A female won for the first time - one of the Milton/Acton rocks.
The week before that, pkrfce9, ddmilcan and I made the final table, along with a first-timer from Kitchener-Waterloo. Congrats to Milton Slim for being the Biggest Winner!
