Poker Tournament Manager

Has anyone used the above program?

Is it worth the investment.

Are there better alternatives out there.

Thanks,

  • Bang for your buck, the best tournament software is The Tournament Director. (It what I use!) It's not only a great piece of software, but it's also donationware.

My original purchase was a piece of software called "The Poker Clock", and with my purchased version I recent got an upgrade, for free to "Poker Clock Pro" which has the ability to have multiple computers displaying the same clock on a network, so I plan on using this one when I run 2 room tournaments.

I've tried a lot of the ones listed on the Homepokertourney website, and Poker Clock was my favorite before the Tournament Director came out. The one you mentioned in new and I haven't used it before, but I noticed a feature list on the main page so let's do a comparison...

Feature:Does The Tournament Director Have it?

Run a poker clock for sessions:Yes
    Unlimited levels and breaks:Yes
Manage players, buy-ins, rebuys, chip add-ons, and fees:Yes
Control number of rebuys/add-ons and levels when permitted:Yes
Eliminate players as they go out:Yes
Automatically calculates fixed or percentage based payouts:Yes
Assigns seats, and moves players as tables are reduced:Yes (Though my preference is to do this manually)
Keeps player name, phone #, email, and address that can be used for mailers:No
Track and view stats to see top players over multiple tournaments:No
For poker tournaments from 2 to unlimited players:Yes
Display poker tournaments on your TV or on your laptop/PC:I assume so?
Show chip values and current blinds/ante/raises:Yes.
    Show poker tournament clock:Yes
Show player's finishing place and payout if any:Yes
Display number of players remaining, average chip stack, and next break:Yes
Keeps rules for tournaments - less arguments!:No
Use the custom message to let your guests know about the next tournament! :No.
Customizable audio and visual notifications.:Yes. To go a step futhur, TD lets you skin the clock to look like any other poker clock. i.e. TD at home, is skinned to look exactly like Poker Clock.
Display unlimited rotating custom pictures or ads:No
Completely customizable colors and many display options:Yes
Manager Report displays total fees and pot money collected:Not sure. I don't collect fees.

I think the biggest strike against is is that there is no working demo version available and is costs $60US compared to donationware.

Wow. That was longer than intended.
  • My bad. There is a demo. You just have to click through 26 pages of the online walkthough to get to it.
  • Wow, thank you so much for recommending The Tournament Director! What a cool piece of software. No more using the microwave and having to tell everyone 100x when the next break is or what the next level of blinds are.

I donated to this already I like it so much.
  • Zithal

    Thanks for the recommendation.
  • yeah, thanks. I'm going to try this out. I was using the poker clock, but it was fairly limited, especially with setting up the blinds. You can't set the levels, only a multiplier. This looks much better :D
  • I just bought the full version for PTM and am very impressed with the capabilities of this software. reading through the list of benefits by Z it does all of those and the ones that it dopesn't. The only thing it has going against it is the cost so Its what you are happy with that matters. The PTM works for me had i known about Tournament Director I may have had a different opinion.
