and I've been getting pounded

The group managed to pull off a BIG $10 victory
on last nite's draw.

My own TKTs have been hitting 2 numbers here and there...
off by 1 number here, 2 numbers there.

Anybody here NOT play the lotto? ???

only play when its big jackpot. Did buy a ticket and the jackpot was won up here in Barrie, the store i use to go to sold the winner, i went to a different store to buy ticket.

yeah same here...pretty much buy tkts for self when jackpot is over 10M.
the jackpot has been over 10M for the last so many weeks.

I know it's so tempting when the pots get big but the gov't is raking mad $ off the lotto. Only 54% of the money goes to the prize pool. In poker terms, every time you won $100, the casino takes $46! I'll probably buy $10, lol.

Take a chance and buy all the combinations and if there are no other winners you make big bucks. Hell even if there is one winner your still good. LOL. I will donate $10 to the government as well.

Well that's a good plan.. they only sell like 100 tickets, so 20 aught to give you some sweet odds. :P I don't play the lotto... I have discovered over the course of my life.. that winning things that are 100% luck never go my way... even small draws... so I'll stick to investing in things where I have at least some ability to sway it in my favour, not that i'm always successful.. I just prefer to know it was my fault I lost(or won), than leaving it up to luck.

But that's just me.. and hey, somebody has to win those things.

Good luck to all who are playing... if anybody from the forum wins the jackpot.. feel like hosting a private freeroll tourney for the forum members, and putting up like $25,000 in prize money?

There's nothing wrong with -EV gambling as long as you understand the house edge and derive more value out of giving it up than you would with the edge in your pocket.

IE, A dollar ticket with a 50% house edge. 50c worth of entertainment? Sure.

$10,000 worth of tickets, $5,000 worth of entertainment? I think not.
