Johnny Chan Exits in Style

With the board showing Qc 7s 2c, Ardovan Yazdi bets out $25,000. Johnny Chan pushes all in and Yazdi makes the call. Chan is holding Ad Kh and Yazdi shows Ac 5c. The turn is the 7c completing Yazdi's flush and infuriating Chan. Johnny Chan crumples up the Kh and throws the Ad across the room. The river is the Ah and the dealer is forced to ask for a new deck of cards as Johnny Chan storms out of the Mirage poker room.

  • Wow, maybe it's because I haven't seen Chan play on TV too often, but I didn't know he had such a temper. Very Helmuth-esque
  • In chan's early days, he was notorious for blowing up when he lost. Over the course of his career he has been able to control his anger and also become a better player because of his controlled aggression. It seems from this story that old habits never die.

And if you are going to lose you may as well go out in tirade like this....no one will ever remember you just walking out...I still think he is one of the most respected players in the world (as long as he doesnt continue to act like a jackass).
  • Lol chan is a good player, and i can see his frustration. lol
