Question on Casino Tournaments

I live in a small town in BC called Prince George. Now we have a casino here, albeit small. They have two poker tables in the center of the floor that usually play $1/$2 NL. But we have no actual tourneys going on at all. Now there are some problems I wanted to get some opinions on. First of all is it even a viable option to hold tourneys with only two tables? I know it can be done but is it worth the casinos time to do so?

Second, only being a younger player, and I mean young (20) is it my place to go to the manager of the casino and talk to them about setting one up? I know there are quite a few players in the town that would like to see one but the people in charge around here do what they want and not what the people think should happen (like our theaters, the guy is kinda a moron <I say that in a good way cause I know him> because he only brings in the movies he wants to see and not what everyone else wants to see. For example when Lucky You came out he didn't show it which made a lot of people mad. I just bring this up because it gives you a feel for the way things are run around here). Or before I do anything should I get some of the other players to endorse the idea by signing some sort of petition?

So any feedback would be great!

  • Host the tourney's yourself, why pay a rake?

  • The Blue Heron is a casino that runs 50.00 11 man sit n goes every wednesday, 100.00 on Thursday's winner take all or work out a chop. These are designed to end and start every hour or so. They are alot of fun. The house gets paid because they only use 10 players buy-ins for the prize pool.

  • I had inquired about this too by telephone with Treasure Cove and someone nicely called me back from the poker room (area) shortly thereafter regarding tournaments (about 6 months ago). I live south of PG, (about 3 hours) and am tired of driving 6 hours to Coquitlam & Langley for tournies all the time. The fellow I talked to said they have difficulty locating enough qualified dealers to host a large tournament (although they would like to) but for me to keep in touch as they would be offering smaller tournaments. I wish they would offer daily advertised tournies like Boulevards' Early Birds every weekday and weekends that are affordable and running consistently every day. I notice that there are many of the same people playing in the tournaments when I have gone on the odd weekdays or Sundays to Boulevard/Coquitlam. I would be more likely to drive up to PG if they ran consistently - even if it was 2 table tournies for $50 or so for something to do when I don't have to plan ahead of time for scheduled tournaments.

This is a good idea by the sounds of it.

Go to a bar maybe or a sports restuarant and see if they would be interested in hosting tourny's every like monday night

    or something

    just ideas :(
