Other forms of gambling

I'm an avid poker player, but I consider myself more of a gambler. Poker has been more on my radar the past couple of years due to the rise of online play. Before I started playing on pokerroom and FT, my poker was limited to the odd house game. I got my gambling fix betting on the ponies and later on sports. I have hard time ranking which I enjoy the most (it's a mood thing afterall) but one thing is for certain I love to gamble. What other forms of gambling do people partake in?

Looking forward to the derby this weekend

Cheers

  • You haven't lived until you have been on a heater at the craps table.
  • Seriously, though, I'm not much of a gambler except for poker and blackjack. I don't understand horse racing, and sports betting requires too much trivial details for me to really get into. I'm not a big sports guy and although I have my favorite teams and players, I don't follow any game to the extent one needs to in order to make betting on them profitable.

I do enjoy poker, and blackjack in the casinos, I don't understand most of the other games of chance. Besides, they're heavily padded to the house, so if I do go out to a casino I know any money I take with me is to be considered gone.

I think my record was like 44 or 45... hitting 5 points in a row and paying everyone on the inside huge! I also rolled 11 three times in a row... the third time I had a $5 tip for the crew on there... they loved me when it hit :)

  • For me anything that appears to give you some control over your own fate is good. That's why I like Poker, betting on sports and betting the ponies. With Poker, it comes down to being able read people and forumlate calculations in your head (empowering somewhat), same with sports betting and horseracing, you're always looking for an edge. You're provided with the tools to find that edge in the form of stats, figures, etc. From there, it's being able to uncover trends that give you the confidence to roll the dice...

Oh yeah, a little discipline goes a long way too. icon10.gif

So is anyone betting the derby this weekend or what???

    Cheers
  • "Place it on Lucky Dan in the fifth at Narragansett."

The ponies just don't seem to do it for me. Most of the racing I have been to have been standardbreds on half mile tracks. I don't know how many time my horse has crossed the line first only to be relegated for some perceived infraction and my ticket suddenly ends up in the garbage.

Also those horses have more drugs in them than a breakaway on Alpe d'Huez.

5 different points? Because if someone had a fire bet (Fallsview/Niagara - not sure where else) I believe it's like 1000 to 1.

I used to play Pai Gow a lot but now it's strictly craps.

This was at Lac Leamy in Hull.

Does Brantford have a craps table yet?

LOL I second that. Making the point of 4 then 10 then 4 all at 10x odds and having the pit boss look at you look at the dice...... and of course your hitting all the inside numbers too for your come bets.
  • You haven't lived until you've played High Stakes Scrabble or Monopoly...

    Right Haddon ;-)
  • How bout Casino War...the most skillful game in casinos.
  • When I played at the BCC MTT satellite this week, the "Craps Coming Soon" sign continued to be there but there was no date.

After I saw somebody I know win her second satellite seat in two tries at BCC, I asked about the craps table that was being installed. BCC said that craps starts on Wednesday! Be sure to phone first to confirm before heading out. Now BCC players have another -EV game to blow off any money they make at the +EV games of limit poker and MTT satellites.
