Need advice

Hi, my poker room just informed me that I have won a seat in a $95 seat in a $150,000+ pool tournament. I am not sure as to how many other players are also registered, but it is a big one, and this is the first time I have played in a tourney this big.

  • you need to find out if the tourney is a rebuy and add on type format. You then need to review if this is something you will consider doing. Most players will rebuy and add-on after the end of hour 1. I just played in a 200,000 game a couple of sundays ago. The tourney started with over 1500 players. My advice would be to play it 1 table at a time, but consider the big picture also.

  • Is there going to be a post saying "ship me $75 and I will give you my $95 seat, you could win $150,000!"
  • The big tournaments always get tough the closer you get to the end. It is not enough to keep your ground and get to a paying position passively!

  • Right, usually in the smaller tournaments I play it as safe as possible and just survive the blinds, but one time I played the next level up, thinking I can use the same strategy, and I was just eaten alive.I get to a poker site poker.dejeuxcasino.com , I really want to get to a good position in this one, I know how to play aggressively too but I want to have a good strategy before I start.

And there is is! Right on time. Good call moose. :D
  • If its legit

go in and play your best. if at all you can make the money with some skill and luck. if not you'll just get some hardcore experience
  • Exactly. Just go in there and play your game. A $150 tourney is no different than a $20 tourney...especially if it is a multi level qualifier. Since a lot of these players have qualified for this tournament from a sub-qualifier...it will be their first time as well. Just go in there and mix it up. Be patient and wait for your cards but also tyr to make moves when you sense weakness. Just remember that it is poker like any other game...so don't get intimidated and start playing overly tight!!

patience is the key.. wait for your cards.. they'll come.. make sure you have enough big blinds to sit comfortably and wait for those nice cards to get as many chips in as possible..

    you'll do great
