Actually, this hand kinda sums up a whole player type with me.. Why are you chatting so much about your hand and stuff? All you do is give information to others about what you've got. If you want to talk, talk about boobies or how great BBC_Z is or something..

Also, berating the guy? Whatever dude. You had 85o and lost, move on.
  • TY for that constructive bit of criticism...
  • Well, you are asking a guy in a tournament how he could "dream of calling" your all in with 3-1 pot odds as a 2-1 underdog with his outside straight draw, two pair/set draw (which he may have thought were good though they were not - ie you having KQ or something) and flush draw relatively early in a fairly low buy-in tournament where getting a big stack will come in handy later on in a flat payout structutre.

Could he have played it a bit better? Sure, he could have just called your raise, saw the river and bet testing whether you would live up to what you said in your bizarre need to chat during a hand which does you absolutely no good. He could have also bet the flop some since his hand was quite good. However, how he played it was not really that horrific, and indeed his play does not come close to deserving a frustration based bad beat post on your part.

You want "constructive" feedback, how about you provide us with your analysis of this hand and where your opponent really played poker extremely badly. Maybe even include a line or two about how you might have better handled the hand as well.

    All the best
  • Reread what BBC_Z said again with an open mind and you will see he is exactly right.

He flopped an open ended straight flush draw, which makes him a favourite to win, regardless of what you have.

Then your yakking away, tells him that you don't have a set and have made something already so you are likely not drawing to a flush or straight. How can you give that information away, with two players to act, both of which have shown strength and both of which could be beating you? You obviously completely ignored the first guy who bet out.

Fortunately, the first guy folds, when as chip leader, he could have easily run a squeeze play on you.

Without a set, the remaining player also knows you are not drawing to a FH, which likely makes all his flush outs good. He knows that his 7 is blocking any draw you have to a straight and he has paired the board already so he has the same number of outs to draw to trips/two pair as you do, if you are playing a single pair.

Besides, you didn't "pay him off", you pushed allin. Why would you commit all your chips on two pair, when as you so eloquently put in the chat, you could be behind to a set, considering that he didn't bet or raise - he REraised, never mind on a board that has flush draw/made straight all over it? You don't even have top 2. The only hand you are beating is a single pair or bottom 2. Did you seriously think that was what he was reraising with?

He has position on you. It sucks, but now you know why that gives him the advantage. You could have called his turn raise and checked the river, hoping to go to showdown cheaply or made a blocking bet on the river first and then decided if you wanted to "pay him off" if he raised. He didn't make the nut straight, you've shown strength twice already, and you could have any two cards from checking the BB so it would be tough for him to raise a blocking bet. Either way you could have gotten out of this hand with 1/2 to 2/3 of your chips left instead of whining about an opponent who took out a player who way overplayed his hand.

The blinds are 15/30. Lots of play left if you get out of this hand with 1500-2000 chips.
  • Nice posts BBC, Monteroy and Moose.

Choron, reread those 3 posts for the advice you seek.
  • Choron here's a little advice:

    1) Never Post Bad Beats
    2) Never ask for opinions about a hand
    3) Walk it off

No one on this forum cares you lost with 85o

What do you want us to do, give you a hug ..boo hoo say, "WOW MAN, HOW COULD HE CALL THAT ALL IN?!?!"

Just tell the guy who beat you, Nice Hand and remove yourself from the table.

    Hope that helps
