1st Annual Binion's Poker Classic, May 31 - July 4th

Just posting so you are all aware. Binions looks like they are really trying to win some tournament players back. I played one regular afternoon tournament there when we were there a few weeks back and their staff were real friendly... I would love to be able to plan another Vegas junket during this time. Looks like it will be great structures at a much more affordable price for those of us on a budget... I met Jennifer, the Tournament Director at Binions when I was there and she is real approachable and obviously puts everything into her job.

So, from June 1 - July 4 the we have cancelled the 2pm daily tournament Monday thru Friday and the Binion's Poker Classic event will start at 2pm. On the weekends we are keeping our $10K guaranteed prize pool at 2pm and having the event start at 4pm (due to the events, the fields should be smaller so the later start time should not be a real issue.) The one exception is that the $1,000 PLO event will start at 12pm since we are giving them so many chips!!

$100 buy-in will get 3500 starting chips
$150 buy-in will get 4000 starting chips
$200 buy-in will get 5000 starting chips
$250 buy-in will get 6000 starting chips
$500 buy-in will get 10000 starting chips
$1000 buy-in will get 20000 starting chips

This has all been submitted for the Cardplayer and Poker Player ad so hopefully you all agree this is a reasonable comprimise based on all of the feedback.

Levels will PROBABLY be 30 min for smaller events and 40-45 for $500+

Jennifer...

  • So that would run at the same time as the WSOP from my recollection of this years dates. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. It seems that they are trying to run a good tourney, I like what I see there.
  • Yeah. It does look like it runs during the WSOP, but it also looks like they're trying to hit a different market with lower buy-ins. That would actually appeal to me. Being in Vegas for the WSOP and playing in tournaments more suited to my bankroll. Assuming it happens next year, I think I know what my plans are for a week in June!
